In a word 'nope'.
I'm awaiting word from Heinkel51, who was very kindly casting me some replacement bits from resin.
I PM'd him the beginning of the month and haven't seen him on the forum for a while either.
I do hope he's okay. _________________ Bubbly! |

Mea Culpa, cast the elevator and main undercart struts which seem to have gone astray.
Currently working up the moulds for the wheels. To avoid any more delays I'll send some parts from another Sunderland kit destined to be a Sandringham (if I ever get a response from Hawkeye models)

The parts arrived on Saturday from Heinkel51. That resin elevator was marvellous!
Thus the airframe is complete and the EDSG has been applied:

Most of the airframe painting has been completed:
The 'C' Class beaching gear is slightly different to that used by its younger sister and thus some modifications are being carried out.

My most involve build to date continues!
Test fitting the beaching gear:
As you can see the lower hole of the Sunderland attachment point also had to be filled.
The finished items:
And in position:

Wonderful, champing at the bit to see this one finished.
It's only just occurred to me that the nacelles and engine faces are actually more accurate for a C-Class than for a Sunderland - the C-Class was powered, I believe, by Bristol Perseus radials which were sleeve-valve, and as such had no pushrods - detail the Sunderland nacelles lack.
I'm sure you're delighted that after all the conversion effort you have put in, Airfix actually made it slightly easier for you here! |

Ah XN923, if you go back into the dim and distant past of the thread you will find the engines on this are off two Airfix Beaufighters and thus are meant to represent Hercules'.
The Sunderland engines, which are supposed to represent Pegasus' now reside on my Nightstalker Beaus!
With my limited research showing that 'Clio' was only fitted with 'Stickleback' ASV aerials I made them from Contrail rod and tube so I didn't have to break up a PE aerial set.
Aerials fitted and markings applied:
The end is almost in sight folks! _________________ Bubbly! |

Looking fantastic!
Didn't realise the powerplants were Hercules. Was it always that way or were the militarised versions re-engined? |

No, the C-Class were fitted with Pegasus. It's just as I was doing the Beaus at the time I compared the parts from both kits.
It's been said in the past that the Airfix Hercules in the Beau were a bit on the small size, and they were certainly smaller than the Sunderlands Pegasus!
This seems a little silly when you consider the Hercules has more cylinders!
I just swapped 'em over.
I hadn't actually included the above pic in this thread although it was in the Nightstalkers build _________________ Bubbly! |
