I've been on board Illustrious when I did my Trident work experience at Portsmouth Naval Base back in 1995 _________________ Airfix Club 500006 |

When I was four years old, my Dad, who had a lot of friends in the Royal Navy at that time, managed to get us aboard HMS Vanguard just before she was sold off for scrapping. To this day, it's still the most awe inspiring day of my life. The only downside of that day was Dad took loads of photo's,,, of me, not the ship, so the only pics I've got are of me looking up at the camera and all you can see of the ship is some deck planking, oh well, such is life. _________________ I didn't get to where I am now by being somewhere else! |

paddy not looking to upset anyone , the joke in the rn at the time of the falkland war was that invincible would recieve the burma star medal . i would think an awful lot of guys in the navy at the time would admit we nearly came in second . as for a profesional navy , all my photos etc came of the wall after the iranian fiasco and to think that that was'nt the first time .
anyway guys enjoy your modelling is what it's all about. |

Humble pie time , having seen lots of images of 'Illustrious' it's a nice looking kit definatley looks better than the real thing .
It certainly looks a bargain when compared to the 'Repulse' .
That said , my old photos won't be going back on the wall .
Happy modelling cheers John .. |

Saw the Illustrious for the 1st time in the flesh on Sunday. She is in the midst of a refit and looking a bit sorry for herself with a big tent over the rear of the flight deck. All three of the class were there, with the Ark in dry dock being refitted as well. The star of the day for me was HMS Daring though. Very nice looking ship and one that I hope that Airfix will tool in 1/350th one day.
It's a nice looking kit at a good price, but I am still going to wait to see if they release an 1982 HMS Invincible version. |

Well,
I know I´ll get it as soon as it gets out, plus the WEM PE - nice birthday present from my modeling pals!
Until then ... the stash is way large enough

Amazon reckon it's out on 22 December. Interestingly, Amazon's indicated price is £7 more than that stated on the Airfix website. I predict that Amazon's will turn out to be the more accurate forecast. _________________ circumveniat quod circumiret

Can we keep speculation about release dates in Unofficial News of the Sprues or they'll end up as more inaccurate/distorted rumours _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

| I have a question has anyone built a 1:96 scale version of this model? I see she is in dock at Faselane at the moment. |

The one on the lift and the one in front of it look to be Sea Kings but the other two (one with folded rotors and the one at the stern) look to be Merlins.

| Jecobin do the plans for the boat which you can either scratch build the hull or can get the GPR hull from Fleetscale with the packs to complete the boat once finished building it measures out to 219cm long you can either put an engine in and sail it or keep it as a static model. |
