As I said in the chat thread I'm thinking of doing my first 1/48 build. At the moment I can't decide between the Spitfire mk.I/IIa or the Spitfire mk.Vc/Seafire L.IIIc, possibly built as a mk.Vb with aftermarket decals? Decisions, decisions... _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Off to a slow & easy start, today I've assembled the prop and the pilot's seat sub-assembly. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Progress is frustratingly slow at the moment, there are some fit issues with the instrument panel/rudder pedals sub assembly, if I get it wrong the control column will foul the gunsight so I'll take this bit slowly. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

First bit of painting done, inner landing gear wells, cockpit area, seat and lower part of the instrument panel have been given two coats of Hu78. The areas above the machine gun cartridge ejector chutes were given a coat of Revell aqua colour tar black.

This week I've got a bit more detail work done as follows...
Dry brushed the sidewall detail with Hu78+Hu34,
and finished off painting the seat and instrument panel.
I'm pretty sure the way I've painted the instrument panel is not accurate, but it does highlight the detail! _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Thanks for the kind comments chaps, I've now got all the cockpit parts painted so I hope to get them glued in and close up the fuselage this week. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

I've now got all the cockpit parts glued into the fuselage sides, the next job will be closing up the fuselage.
After this photo was taken I scraped off some of the paint in front of the instrument panel, as I'm pretty sure I'll have to install a spreader to improve the wing-fuselage join. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

I had problems with the join on my one. To over come it I joined the top wing edges to the fuselage with a bit of testing and dry fitting I was able to get them pretty good. Overall only a little bit of filler was needed.
