Thanks for the tip Daniel, I'll bear that in mind for future builds.
I've now got the fuselage glued together.
Next will be the most tedious part of any aircraft build for me - cleaning up the fuselage seam. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

The fuselage seam has now been cleaned up, and in order to improve the fit of the wing/fuselage join I've made a spreader bar from sprue and glued it in the forward fuselage.

Thanks Ratch. I've got the fuselage and wings assembled now, and added the lower part of the nose.
Looks like it's time to break out the filler... _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Nice job
Better wing/fuselage fit than I managed on mine. _________________ Regards Paddy

Thanks Disorder, the bit of sprue I stuck in the fuselage made a big difference to the fit, without it there would have been a much bigger gap at the wing root. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Filler has been applied to the root fillet join and the lower nose join.

I've got the tailplanes on now, and also glued some pieces of sheet styrene into the locating hole for the tail wheel as it's really loose otherwise.
Since this photo was taken I've sanded the styrene down level with the fuselage. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Thanks guys.
No more photos yet but I've got the innards of the oil cooler and radiator painted and assembled them onto the model, also attached the carburettor intake and the tail wheel. Finally I've undercoated the prop with Hu64 and put 4 coats of Hu24 on the tips. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Basic assembly is now complete, I think it's time to break out the paint.
The main landing gear legs in the kit were quite badly bent and unusable , luckily I have a Seafire IIIc/Spitfire Vc kit in the stash which has two sets of main gear legs, so I used one set for this build.

This evening I've given the model an undercoat of Hu64. Next will be Hu29 dark earth, for this build I'll reverse my normal painting order and do the upper surfaces first as the undersides are metallic aluminium. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

I've got the dark earth on now, two coats of Hu29 have been applied.

Was the landing gear problem a defect in the kit? (Just curious). _________________ “Build what YOU want, the way YOU want to, and above all, have fun.”

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

dancho, I think the landing gear problem may have been caused by mishandling, either when the sprue was removed from the mould or during packing, as there are quite prominent stress marks in the plastic where the legs are bent. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy
