The dark green camo pattern is now on, two coats of Hu116 were applied. I must remember to thin this paint a little in future, up close the green looks a little "heavy".

Thanks guys!
I've masked up the demarcation for the underside colour and put a coat of Hu56 on, was hoping one coat would be enough but I think it's going to need a second coat. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Second coat of Hu56 is on, I think it looks fairly reasonable now.

This week I've masked the canopy and prop, they're now ready for some paint.
I've also put a few coats of Klear on the model. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

The model has now had 4 (or was it 5? I've lost count! ) coats of Klear, ready for decals now.

That Spitfire is more shiny and smooth than my car models!
Decals will go on like a dream I think.

I'm part way through applying the decals, had a couple of problems, the underwing roundels haven't settled down over some raised detail and the walkway lines absolutely refused to go on straight no matter how much I tried to straighten them.
At least the upper wing roundels and squadron numbers went on OK.
A close up of the underwing roundels...
I'll have to puncture the decals with a needle and apply plenty of micro sol I think.
P.S. I hate decal sheets with separate centres for the roundels. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Almost finished now, decals are all on and sealed with klear then two coats of mattcote, and most of the small parts have been added (must remember to attach and paint the pitot - nearly forgot that ). _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Hi Ratch, the underwing roundels have settled a lot better after some careful slicing with a scalpel and several applications of Micro Sol. They're not perfect but they are about as good as I can get them.
P.S. the pitot is on and painted. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Finished!
Supermarine Spitfire mk.I of No. 19 (F) Squadron RAF, RAF Duxford, August 1938.
I've not applied any weathering as the model depicts a virtually brand new aircraft in peacetime, so I'm guessing the ground crew would have cleaned the aircraft regularly. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

I thought the undersides were half white, half black at that time *scratching head*. _________________ “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill |

The undersides were silver when the Spitfire first entered service in 1938 _________________ Airfix Club 500006 |
