Ayup All...

The Star is starting to come together...

I sprayed the Brunswick Green, but Man, is it GREEN ! mind you, each time i've looked at it, it is getting less so! I have joined the two halves of Wheel carriage and Boiler today, and will start painting the Ejector pipework tomorrow. I stuffed up the colours on the Cylinders but it's salveageable, as the silver i've painted, should be Black ! what happy Happenstance ! here's a 'Beauty' shot !

Lid off...

Lid on...

I need to paint the 'Custard' on the Undersides of the cab roof, and then i can close it up. I thought about scratching the Driver and Firemans seats, but The opportunity I feel has gone by. Maybe next time...

That woodgrain looks fantastic
I'd be inclined to darken the wheels and coupling rods, but its your choice

Ayup Ratch...

The woodgrains quite easy. its simply Hu74 Linen over grey primer, and when dry, Clear Orange.

Don't worry, though, I was going to take your advice Ratch, but today, all i could do at work today was fit the front wheels and the Buffer mounting. I've coated the whole Loco with GW Satin Spray Varnish, ready to try again with Citadel Inks. Maybe the Sepia one this time. What's your Poison ?

You are so lucky Feanor.
All I had time to, was to make some comments on this forum and purchase a kit from E-bay.
My work was cut out tree times today by an inconvenient morning breakfast and two cake eating meetings.
It’s a tough job, but some has to do it.

- Jesper.

Ayup Jesper...

tree? that's one more than ME ! lol...

Trouble is mate, I'd rather be busy sending out thousands of tons of materials, not a paltry 150 a day. It does nothing for my Bonus, (Sorry, Model buying fund   )  and I've put on Seventeen stone in a week...

I mean, i've got up again at 5.30 this morning to come to work for four hours until 11 am, and i KNOW not one SINGLE wagon will come in. so it's half my 'Weekend' gone already. And it's raining.

Ayup All...

And just to show that I'm consistent...

I finally glued the Cab roof on Permanently just now. A Milestone I feel. After I've filled the gaps (rats!) and touched up, it'll be just the 'Knocky-off' bits to fit, and then some Decals !

Woo Woo !

Ayup All...

Got a little done today..

Painted Injector and Ejector piping Brass, as needed, and coated the Injector pipework with Clear Orange to see if it dulled it down... Errrm... Don't think so...

But it should come right with a dark wash...  Which sorta leaves me here... I took LOADS of pics earlier, but they were all naff..

The front wheels are 'Up' because i tape them up for safe transport to and from work... the Drive wheels do need darkening as per Ratch's suggestion, but i decided to 'Lose' a smoke deflector instead, and it took 2 1/2 hours to find it...  so, this is where THEY are...

I shall tackle THAT at work tomorrow with Citadel Wash Inks...

But I'm Getting There... I'm Just letting the Train take the Strain...

How did I miss this thread? Coming on a treat fea, I'm very impressed with the cab detail. When I was a little lad I used to play with a slightly worse for wear Airfix original at my Grandpa's, grief that must have been at least 35 yrs ago! Really took me back seeing one again, made me smile and feel sad at the same time. Soft beggar!

Ayup Dangerbod...

Thanks for the kind words. Your feelings are EXACTLY what the hobby is all about. that warm glow when Memories are triggered.  No mate, not soft at all.

Ayup All...

A good day today...

I put a wash on the Stars Connecting/Driving rods and finally fitted the steps up to the Buffers on both the Loco and Tender. All that needs to be fitted now are the Smoke Deflectors after Klear and Decalling, and things like the Buffers themselves and the sanding lines and Scale Couplings. but they're only tiny bits to fit. I got to splash some Red around me Buffers too...

I Unmasked the Tender, cleaned it up and re-painted the Green, Gloss Black and Buffer red. I have to paint the Ladder and odd bits around it too... again, not a lot. Then I'm Breaking some Klear out to start some MORE serious Decalling... I shall order those Pinstripes tomorrow too... (Payday !)

The Tender...

The Front...

The Rear...

Gear !

One major thing i've just remembered is I have to paint the pipe from the Boiler safety to waste... Some lightened Hu74...

Ayup All...

I've just ordered the 'Lining only' set for the Star. Using these and the Kit Decals should be adequate, but there's STILL a Commemorative Plaque decal that's not included, but availiable with the Loco 'Stencil' decal kit , most of which are in the Dapol set for another nine quid! sems a rip off to have to buy it to complete the Star 'Properly'

Plus, there seems to be an oval on the rear of the Tender, which should take a decal, which is missed off completely ! GRRRR !
