Here's the final shots. That final coat of Mattcote really made a difference to the finish!

Excellent build and as you say, a really straight forward build. |

Very nice, I'd like to ask how you manage to do those convincing tyres, how did you get it to look like the tread has been used ? _________________ If I'm not model building, I'm dirtbike riding |

Cheers guys! Thanks to Lincolnlanc for the tip on your build for the staple wing mirror mounts.

kitnut617, Firstly, I did the effect on the tyres prior to fitting them. I stuck the painted wheel onto the end of a cocktail stick with blutack and then I rotated them along the edge of a flat brush with a very small amount of dry H29 (dark earth) acrylic on it. This method gave a nice consistent effect along the whole tread of the tyre. _________________ Airfix Club member |

Dont know if i can add to that here but ...
I usually paint the back and tread of the tyre with Hu67. The front usually black HU33 and as mention above, i too paint the outside front of the tread with Hu29 as desired, as seen on my Bedford 4Tonne GS lorry
