I will be building a Hurricane II of the Malta Night Fighter Unit.
Box and decals. (I will be dipping into my Modeldecal sheets again.)
instructions
and sprues, including a resin tropical filter bottom right.
Hopefully I'll be able to get this one finished in time. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

Good choice Tim.
Once I've built my mossie I may build a Hurricane night fighter using the RAFDEC decals i have stored somewhere and assuming I can find my Hurri. |

No, you're not seeing things. Two days in and already recognizable as a Hurricane. This is pretty quick for me if not up to the speed of AFCB George.
It went together well with a bit of fettling so I won't need to use much filler.
If I can get it finished soon I may move on to a Mossie next. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

After quite an interlude ( the tropical filter needed a lot of filling & sanding to get it to fit ) I decided to have a go a completing the Hurri at the weekend.
By Saturday evening it was in primer
Sunday evening the camouflage was on
and after a few coats of Klear, the decals went on yesterday.
It should be finished tonight and I'll post pics of the finished article tomorrow ( hopefully in focus.) _________________ So many kits, so little time |

Finished this on Tuesday but I've been having a few problems getting my photos onto Photobucket.
Hurricane IIa, Z2827 'M' Malta Night Fighter Unit, Ta 'Qali, July 1941.
I enjoyed building this one so much I've started another one. I picked up this MKIIc (02096) from Hinckley for £2.00, bagged with no decals. I will be finishing it as ZY-S of 247 sqn.
The airframe is assembled and filled but I don't have any pics at the moment. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

It seems we're on a similar wavelength, Hurricane wise. I was surprised when you're IIa appeared.
Which one shall we do next. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

I should have posted a picture earlier but I accidentally deleted it so here is progress so far, resplendent in a coat of Revell Anthracite.
I hadn't used it before but I was pleased with the result. It went on OK and covered well as long as it was stirred regularly. _________________ So many kits, so little time |

| Looking good there. I reckon Revell's anthracite behaves itself better if you add a drop of thinner. |

Second build completed. I had problems with the 247 Sqn markings so I went for BE500 LK-A of 87 Sqn from the Sky Decal sheet as flown by Sqn Leader D Smallwood.
A final couple of shots of the two together.
The difference in the fuselage outline is evident in the bottom photo.
If the new Airfix Mk IIc is better than this one I'll be buying a few. _________________ So many kits, so little time |
