Ayup Phil...

Thanks. Guess who's forgotten to paint the Shiny steel rims to his wheels yet. You've just jogged my memory. And I bet your wheels turn better than mine... *Sulks*   BTW, have you highlighted any of your wheels with it? I did mine Metalcote steel, and the flyweights Metalcote Polished Ally (I think) with GW purple wash...

I won't do it yet. I've just finished Masking JE*J's Undersides ready for spraying the top camo. Now i'm gonna make a Cuppa for me and the Missus...

This is all most informative, I'm still trying to figure out how to paint mine and am leaning strongly towards spraying sub assemblies.....I have to say that the metallic effect on phil b.'s loco is lovely too.

All the best

Ayup Sarge..

The Loco looks as if it's sprayed Bog standard Hu85 which is what mine is. I don't know about the Wheel Carriage...

i can see my wheels have raised some interest!
feanor your right about the H85, after that i mixed some rusty/dirty colours from the box set and misted them over to take away the newness. the rims i do in alclad chrome and the real trick is that you can airbrush this at an angle from behind, so you spray the rims without hitting any of the face of the wheel any overspray is only on the rear face and can be easily touched up. just before i wrote this post i was about to touch up the wheels with H33, then give all the wheels and underside a coat of matt varnish.

Ayup Phil...

Thanks for your Colour callouts. Initially, i was really disappointed about the look of the Metalcote Steel. even when polished up, thats why i used the polished Ally for the flyweights and then used the Citadel purplel wash. thinking about that, i wish now i'd used the Sepia or blue one. but Hey ho. For the rims i shall use Hu191 Polished Chrome. i'll post to tell you how it got on. Lovely work on yours BTW. i  shall also have a bash at my Cab pipework, et al.

Aha, last question ! are you gonna reproduce the orange pin-striping on the boiler cladding bands and walkways?  I'm gonna see if Paul Parkes on BM can do me some. There's NO way i can do that freehand i'd go   Airhead

poop! i've been a little busy with the "real world", and as a consequence i've only been able to piddle along with this, i'd say i'm 70 % finished, and of course i'll get this kit done completley.
(errmm no chance of an extension is there.......?)
