This is the place to post the models you would like to show with the SIG as part of the 60th Anniversary "The World of Airfix 1949 - 2009"  SMW '09 display.

The show will be split into 6 sections 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's (plus 1949 if we can source a Ferguson). Each decade will feature built models from each of the 9 main categories of kits which had their original release in that decade. e.g. 1/72 Grumman F6F Hellcat first released 1968, so will be part of the 60's section.

The nine categories of model are;

TV + Film
Ships, Boats + Hovercraft
Space
Railway + Steam
Military Vehicles
Figures
Cars + Bikes
Aircraft Military
Aircraft Civillian

There is no standard or criteria for selecting the models other than they are made by a SIG member. We would ask though that the models shown are in the spirit of how the kit was originally released, so no major conversions into other types or kit bashing with parts from other kits.

The release years of the Airfix kits can be found in the "History of Airfix Kits" section on the ATF Forum, here.

Models for the display.
When pledging models for the display, please include the following information (if you have a picture, please post it).
Kit (kit number), Year of Release, Scale, Scheme, which day/s the model will be available for display (Sat/Sun), if it is already built - or you will build it as part of the GB.

There are no restrictions on the number or type of kits that each member can pledge, but please bear in mind that the display will be tailored to fit the space we have availalble, so if we have too many models to fit the display we may operate selective display days or rotation of kits.

I will post a summary table so we can keep track of what has been pledged. (Key: Blue = Sat/Sun, Red=Sat only, Green=Sun only model availability)

I will take anything Airfix - it shouldn't be a problem. I've also got a few boxed Airfix 00 Railway system bits and catalogues which could be brought along as static models.

I'll get a list up in good time.

I guess my StuG III would be out, cos it has an Aber barrel, but if you want my Panther, then you're welcome.

The following is an old pic of it, I've modified the paint scheme since then:

01302 1961

1/72 scale.

Avro Vulcan B.2            9 09002/09002  1983

Armstrong Whitworth Seahawk      105/01025-2/61025-4/9 61025/02097 1959

Short Sunderland III 681/06001-1/9 06001/06001 1959

Plus whatever I shall be building for the group build.

I shall be there on the Sat but if someone is kind enough to look after the models for me I can leave them for display on Sunday and collect them another time.

Also if we are short of anything I don't mind bringing more. Have a look through my portfolio and let me know.

I'll be there to set up on Friday, and Sat and Sunday including "Knock down" on Sunday night. Here are a few I can bring, and I've several more on the go at the moment.

Airfix 1/8 Honda CB750 Four

Unfortunately, this kit is currently in bits having been dropped coming home from modelling club one winters evening, but it is my pride and joy so I will painstaking restore her to her former glory (or just bin it and get on with my Tamiya 1/6 scale version of the same bike )

Airfix 1/72 F4 Phantom II

Airfix 1/24 Messerschmitt Bf.109E

There are a few bits left to finish on the Stuka. I have a seconfd on the go in the Tropical scheme with the big snake down the side (using the Montex mask set).

Airfix 1/72 Golden Hind - a bit left to do to finish the rigging, paint the figures to go on deck and stick a few cannon here and there to make her look mean!

Cheers
Al.

I've changed the size of all the images posted so far - the scroll wheel on my mouse was in danger of wearing out!   Anyone wanting to see the full size pic can still do so by right-clicking on the image and selecting "View Image".

Can everybody also please make sure that they post at least the kit number and year of release as requested by Rich.

I've updated the summary, if there are any more models, please post in this thread with the code and year. It saves me trying to hunt them down.
Thanks
