I have recently won an Airfix Buccaneer S2B so as promised earlier in the thread this will be built as desert wrap around Nellis Red Flag 77 ship to display with the Vulcan.

Whilst unpacking the Spit VIII from the Coventry display i noticed that the print from the air bag packaging had come off onto the model.I am retouching the model up and have discovered some more stencils for it.

The stencils I found came from the Airfix Club Spitfire. I forgot that they were rubbish and are now in the bin. I've found a spare VB sheet which is from the Humbrol era so I shall try the stencils off that.

I'd like to know who made the call on the grey for these squadron codes. And as for that black line on them.... _________________ Bubbly! |

They came seperately from Airfix as you don't get the proper decals with the kit due to their admin error at the printers. I think they may all be like that looking at the badly built spit on the back of the kit box.

Plasticard is your friend here. slot a peice or two to fill the gap then with a bit left sticking out run some liquid glue between the pieces and around the edge next to the hole. Let the cappillary action drw the glue in and then when set you can trim off the excess and you should be left with a reasonably nice join _________________ Cheers

Most places that sell models. I get mine from Vince at MFS www.modelsforsale.com, Graham at Relish models www.relishmodels.co.uk or I beilive Modelzone sell it. It comes in various thicknesses, I prefer to get the variation pack with a sheets of different thicknesses for different jobs. It isnt that expencive and provinding you use it economically then it will last quite a while _________________ Cheers

Now that a discussion on the merits of plasticard is over I've filled the gap with a bit of Humbrol filler. I shall leave it for 24 hours and then give it a good sand.

I've acquired a 1/35 Airfix Challenger Tank and will be adding this to the list of models to be built for the show.
