As I just landed an ebay F8, that's what it'll be. Assuming it arrives.

Well, it arrived ok so I'm good to go.

The kick-off pics:

Swastikas on both the box art and the transfers sheet, and a stand .

Could one of our resident experts tell us...is this the Heller kit?

Unless Heller boxed the Fw 190D-9, then no. Heller's Fw 190A3/F8 is a bird of entirely different feather:

The Airfix Fw 190A/F offers similar options, but it's generally better.

Quite a productive day

Parts generally a good fit requiring minimal persuasion and filling.

Some parts, though, (including the canopy )had sellotape stuck to them at some time, leaving a stain and sticky residue a bit awkward to get rid of.

Which version was I doing again?

I'm hoping the undercarriage will remove in one piece so I can alternate between lowered and raised as the fancy takes me. So far so good   Prop. boss awaits steady hand for white spiral

Now I need to go and look up the paint equivalents chart. But isn't Airfix's M25 (Hu M65) a bit "blue" for the underside? I think it needs greying down a touch, or maybe just shading paler.

Aye,
Chris

Not sure what the Fw 190D-9 has to do with this , but I appreciate your answering, anyway.  From looking at the images of the two kits, it's apparent they are not the same

Yes, I was being a doofus, wasn't I!

Airfix's Fw 190A/F is nicer in some ways, but Heller did give the option of having the canopy open.

Thanks for the interest, much appreciated. I had the day off yesterday, hence the unusually rapid (for me) progress.

That is pretty grey! It looks a lot like a tinlet of something called "Humbrol Master Modellers Authentic Colour HG3 Hellgrau 76 (Light Grey)" that I found sculling around. I wonder if there's any left inside

My FW190A/F has the legend Airfix 1977 stamped on the interior of one of the fueslage halves.

This one has a Lesney copyright, also 1977.

Here's the  underside with a light coat of Humbrol HG3 Hellgrau 76 applied:

Goes on well, as it dries it seems to darken before lightening again. If it fixes like this I'll be content

It's the wrong colour to be anything Matchbox Ratch as it's only one! Although that is odd innit?

Ah yes, Matchbox were always 2-colour jobbies    The sprues of my last one were moulded in sky blue and grey-green plastic
