Good Lysander    It looks like yourself and hard target are building the entire D-Day fleet between you !

Beautiful builds. With this sort of material air-superiority, the Germans don't stand a chance!

Have you ever built the Matchbox 1.72 Lysander? This Airfix looks a bit more accurate than my 1970s Matchbox attempt, but it could just be your skill and not the model.

You are building up quite an impressive flight!

Read about the tribulations with your Mossie HT and added a further bit of info.

James, IMHO the Matchbox Lysander is actually better than the Airfix one.

Anyway prelims for the Boston:

The ESCI sheet actually seems to be one of their poorer ones, so I'm filching most of the markings from the Matchbox Boston sheet.

Also the ESCI sheet has the serial of 'OA-U' as BZ258. I cannot confirm this, but BZ261 was so marked.

As with any tricycle undercarriage preventing tail sitting is vital.

Using folded sheet lead secured within plasticard bulkheads with liberal amounts of PVA this is the result achieved:

Ensuring a tight fit!

Stripe time:

And upper camouflage done:

Painting completed ready for decals:

And the finished subject:

The markings are a real hodge-podge.

The squadron codes fin flashes, and fire extinguisher markings came from the ESCI sheet

The fuselage roundels and shields are from the Matchbox sheet. I had to use all six in the end as the colour density on the roundels was abysmal.

The wing roundels and serials came from generic sheets, and the prop warning stripe cam from the kit sheet.

One more build to come: An Anson I of 83 Group Comms Flight.

Great subject for a Boston build - over sea camouflage, invasion stripes, and French roundels! This is a colourful bird, indeed. Thanks for sharing.
