Ok onto the next subject although unfortunately the aircraft's squadron codes and serial number are incorrect. The AC HR241 didnt serve on 418 sqdn with the coding belonging to NS850.
I cannot find any evidence of HR241 going to 418 Squadron. The De Havilland records have HR241 as going to 169 Sqn which was coded “VI” and operated with radar. 418 Sqn did not use radar as the scheme shows.
There is strong evidence that NS850 was coded TH-M. Other evidence to suggest that HR241 was not TH-M shows that many of 418 Sqn’s aircraft had nose art and they did not have white-tipped spinners.
NS850, TH-M was used over the D-Day period but did not ever receive invasion stripes or had a black underside so i could still make this AC but in its DG, MSG & OG scheme not the DG, MSG over black, another error on the sheet. _________________ Airfix Club Mem No:502611

I have found this photo of HR241 in late november 44 after an invasion mission. Would this AC have flown in june when it was part of the 100 group, if so ill make this up as the picture and with the Squadron codes 'VI'.
This AC was also a NFII not a FBIV.

Ive decided to make HR241 as VI-M from 169 Sqn in night scheme MSG,DG over black with fuel tanks and no guns as per picture above. _________________ Airfix Club Mem No:502611 |

Some development shots from packaging to first coats of camo. Nothing untoward with this kits, built a few now so can build quite quickly with little effort. Minimal amount of sanding etc to make the arts fit although the UC is still a pain in the bottom with that cross brace and how the UC fits into the wheel wells.
Sprue shot wth decals from same sheet as lysander and tyhoon, although the Sqdn codes are wrong for this AC.
Shouls be ready for decals wednesday after another coat and the coat of klear. _________________ Airfix Club Mem No:502611 |

My research definitely has HR241 as a FBVI, but a rarity in having AI fitted.
As the photo shows no MGs this may mean that this was also a Serrate aircraft. _________________ Bubbly! |

Yeah i think your right with it being a Serrate aircraft. I also have found since that it was a FBVI and not a NFII. _________________ Airfix Club Mem No:502611 |

It could almost be described as a NFVI. _________________ Roger. |

Ive got decide whether or not this AC had the radar rods poking out of the wings or not, ive installed the serrate in the nose but not sure whether to take i one step further as per the diagram? The problem with this AC is that there are limited pictures avaliable. I think for the time being ill finish her off without and then add them if i find more evidence. _________________ Airfix Club Mem No:502611 |

Here are the finished shots taken outside today.
Mosquito VI HR214 of 169 sqd June 1944.
At this point i have not added the serrate radar to thr tail or the rods in the wings until i can find a pic or records of this AC having them. So for the moment its as it is shown in the pic available on the net.

Next up is a B=26C Marauder The Yankee Guerrilla, 555th BS 386 BG June 1944.
Boxart and sprues
Cockpit, bomb bay and bombs painted up with added wear and tear dry painting some black over 'dirty' areas.
Wings glued, undercart painted in US interior green.
Fixed the bomb bay, cockpit with interior viewable areas painted in interior green.
All major parts glued together, added UC legs for the AC to sit nicely. UC painted in aluminium with overall coat of HU155 Olive Drab and Neutral Grey. There is another olive drag (hu66) which i presume was used on US ac prior to 1943, after 43 they used this hu equialent.
Added white d-day sections on wings, have since added white area on fuselage. Just waiting for the white to dry to apply the black stripes.

P-51B Hun Hunter from the 354th FS, 355 FG 8th AF June 1944. This was Henry W Browns kite but was not flow by him on June 6th.
Prelims, looks a very easy kit to put together.
Not many bits as you can see, so this will be a quick buld to run inconjunction with the Mararuder.
All parts pre sprayed with silver and glued together , ive made easy work of the few bits and the shape is pretty much complete ready for Olive Drab.
First coat of OD. I may include the pilot just to prolong this build a a bit.
Underside with B-26 in background.

I can't believe how quick you're getting through these. Great work on all of them. _________________ So many kits, so little time |
