Great to be aboard. I am not sure what I am going to build yet. I will have a rummage through my stash and see what's there. I quite fancy some sort of armoured vehicle......

I thought I would make a start on the Tempest. I went into the attic to dig it out and when I found it I discovered it was the Revell version. I could have sworn I had an Airfix one - Doh! So that leaves me in a bit of a quandary with what to build. The options are a Panzer Mark IV, but really to be a D-Day version it needs to be a model H and Airfix produces an F2. I could build a Typhoon, but that appears to be a banned kit or I have a Spitfire MK IX.
I think it will be the Spitfire with some after market decals and invasion stripes. So that's it, decision made.

No one said the Tiffie was banned Bob. I think Hardtarget is doing one in his Armada. _________________ Bubbly! |

Yep didnt know that it was banned, where didyou hear that? Anything Airfix can be used and you can use 50% of another model if you really need to as long as the other half is AF. _________________ Airfix Club Mem No:502611 |

Sorry guys, perhaps banned was too strong a word, I just noticed the discussion in the thread 'ColinM's Typhoon 1B', which led to the project being abandoned, so I thought I would steer clear. Anyhow, I am now set on building a Spitfire and will be starting soon.

And very nice it is too. I hope my spitfire comes out looking half decent, although i will need to go some to match your results.

I thought I would make a start. Got all the bits out of the box (all 22 of them!!), they all seemed to be there and not too much flash or sink holes. I have started the painting of the interior and small parts, including the pilot. the figure in the kit seems a little large and certaily will not fit without some trimming, so I will use a spare figure from a Revell kit. Besides I am fed up with painting the standard Airfix pilot figure and the change will be nice:

Most of the WW2 aircraft have the pilot figure shown on the sprue in the photograph above, albeit in differing sizes, no matter what nationality the aircraft is. Some of the older kits have a simpler figure.

My pilot has received a coat of paint as have the wheels and propeller. The pilot is attached to the seat:

Fuselage assembled and main wings in place. Some sanding will be needed on the nose:

I believe they are about to, but this is the old one. Be interesting to compare the two.
