RED STAR!!!
Sealion sounds great.
The only problem, which will make this very hard to do is those measurements, and making the dioramas look like One.
Think of the problems.
1.) all scatters and scenics would have to be exactly the same
2.) All hills and landscaping would have to match
3.) Basically, everthing has to match, which is hard. _________________ gigiddygiggidy goo! |

Problems are there to be overcome!
As JFK said, we are doing this diorama, and the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard! Of course I am not suggesting we go to the moon but I'm sure we will overcome any difficulties we may face!
It's easy enough to co-ordinate the scatter being used etc. As for the joins, it is easy enough to make a paper/card/balsa template of the profile of the terrain at the join and one member can send a copy of that template through the post for another member to use on their join. They should then be a pretty good match.
We will prevail!!

N.Africa Sounds good.
I had another idea, which would be almost impossible to do! Perhaps an airfield diorama, in which one plane covers 4 boards. Where the plane goes off the board, it abrublty stops leaving a nice cut away cross-section. There's no doubt this will be impossible, but I thought it would make a nice touch if this was done with an AFV?
Complex, I know, but it could work out great! _________________ Owen

So far we have
North Africa
Russia (summer)
Operation Sealion (Britain after the Nazi Invasion)
I'd also like to throw into the pot
Italy 1944 - maybe one of the landings - Anzio
Germany - bombed out town with advancing US/Brit or even Russian forces either just a convoy of vehicles or 1/3 German defences - 1/3 no-man's land - 1/3 Allied incursion
or
a Pacific airfield - volcanic island, not much greenery but quite a few bombers or ground attack or fighters preparing for Ops
Perahps we could set up a Poll in a few days time _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

I like that idea
but shouldn't we have a poll to see if we should have a vote on the poll to decide the subject _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

I don't do dio's but based on Ratch's idea why not try a battle of midway idea. Lots of zeros and Japanese planes flying over with guns and american planes on the floor. You could even do a little scene where someone has crashed! _________________ Cheers Modeldude

GW1, would get my vote. Either an airfield or ground assault diorama. The airfields had a nice mix of coalition aircraft, plenty to choose from. Same on the ground with AFV's etc. However, if this is going to be an airfix model (or airfix did one) only diorama, that could cause some problems with getting some of the vehicles/ aircraft.
While your doing polls, one for the scale might be an idea. I'd do aircraft in 1/72, but not AFV's.

We've got that in mind Red
Hopefully, whichever dio we settle on, there will be enough scope for everyone to contribute

BTW what's GW1
Gulf War 1.
From Wikipedia "Gulf War and Persian Gulf War are the most common Western terms for the conflict, used by majority of historians and journalists. Since Operation Iraqi Freedom and the American occupation of Iraq, the 1991 conflict is often referred to as “Gulf War I” or the “First Persian Gulf War”, also known to Americans as Operations Desert Shield (defending Saudi territory) and Desert Storm (offensives against Iraq) and to the British as Operation Granby; however, Americans have been known to use the name Desert Storm to refer to military action conducted during Desert Shield."

Update on nominations
North Africa
Russian summer
Operation Sealion
Italy '44
Germany '45
Pacific Airfield

Dave, perhaps we should start a poll this coming weekend to last for say 2 weeks + another for scale (1/72 - 1/48 - 1/32 - 1/35 ) lasting about the same time

We should also have Polls for the designs, leaders, makers and kit builders!
How about we have a Poll Party! _________________ Owen

Yes.
I agree that we should use OTHER PEOPLE to decide our roles in the build, and people who GET a role in the build. _________________ gigiddygiggidy goo! |

I'm sure that for some people it will depend on the subject & scale what contribution they would like to, or be prepared to make
Maybe once we've decided on those criteria we can nominate people and ask how they'd be prepared to collaborate _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

Yes, I agree Ratch. It is a bit early to be talking about how the build will be split up. We need to get the subject, scale, diorama size, possible layout of said diorama etc. decided (in that order) before any work is allocated to the "willing volunteers"!
