I like the idea Stu (feanor) came up with of a Best of British. A whole host of fun to be had there.

At the moment I'm interested in suggestions for a Campaign Special GB.
There are other suggestions for other types of Special GB's, one of which is Feanors, it's a good idea and one we could possibly incorporate some charity fundraising into.
At the moment I just want to set up the campaign GB, so keep your suggestions coming in - or no moaning when a subject you don't like gets chosen

Perhaps a seperate Campaign GB Thread to prevent this one getting confused?
I'd also like to suggest an Armoured Vehicle Platoon Special Build.....Ratch has a platoon of 1/72 Dragon Shermans to build, as do I, Stu has recently been buying up Revell Cromwells.....Any takers?
Just to reiterate my suggestions for campaigns:
1 - Spanish Civil War
2 - East Africa Campaign
3 - Defence Of Moscow (I like multicoloured MiG-3s lots & lots! )
Just a thought, all the best |

Due to other distractions, I almost forgot about the ATF Second Anniversary Group Build which will start on 21st April and run for two months. Participants can build whatever they like as long as it is an Airfix boxing...... It can be funny, sad, bog-standard OOB, PE'd or whatever takes your fancy. Who knows, it could end up like this.....:
I will be GB Leader and set up the necessary bits and bobs in the next day or so.

I was wondering whether we'd have another one. I've got an interesting idea to go with last year's Gromit Vampire, so I'll have to see what I can come up with. _________________ Cheers,

I have set up the sub-forum for the WW2 Africa Campaign GB, with threads for those people who have already signed up. If you wish to take part please sign up to the WW2 Africa Campaign GB group in the Usergroups.

I've set up a poll to see who would be interested in taking part in a "What if" GB, most likely to take place later in the year after the Africa Campaign GB.
The concept, come up with an idea for a "What if", make a little story to explain it, then build it using any Airfix model, any scale, civillian or military.
e.g. a F-111 model in British squadron scheme and colours to show what if if the UK had actually purchased and operated the F-111 as a replacement for the cancelled TSR.2.

The poll for the what-if GB has closed with a definite yes! The Africa Campaign GB runs 1/8 to 1/10, so I was thinking a Whiff GB would probably be good to run over Christmas 1/12 to 1/2? A bit of fun over the holidays. Anybody object to this and prefer to have a traditional poll with several different dates?

If you want to suggest it in the Military aircraft GB forum to see what interest it generates, I'm sure Adrian will deal with it .

Sounds almost like the "12 scales of Christmas".
...On the first day of Christmas, the forum built for me, a 1/1 scale Icebreaker... _________________ The moral is "do your research carefully". |

I don’t know about you, but I think we need a group build with a little more span on subject.
I know it’s a fairly democratic decision what to build and I’m not really complaining but look at these examples:
Why just ‘Airfix Carriers’? Instead of Airfix ships (lots more to chose from).
Why ‘Doctor Who’? Instead of Airfix Sci-fi. (Again a little more to chose from).
A ‘Doctor Who’ model is also so narrow a subject and typical UK it will be really hard to find one here in Denmark.
1/24 scale aircrafts: I love the idea but I haven’t got any in my pile and can’t find a waterproof explanation to my wife to justify buying one.
But as always I will follow your builds with great anticipation because I think GB’s is a great way to build, share experiences, and show your model. And I’m all in for it.
And yes, I know I entered the A-A GB without completing the build.
I just got empty on ideas. Some day it WILL be finished.
All the best from Jesper. |

There are arguments for both sides of the choice. In one ideal situation, all participants would build the exact same kit. The shared experience of overcoming problems would benefit all. To do this, the chosen kit must be readily available, so GB's have been extended e.g. Harriers, Liners etc etc. This stretching has gone further with the North Africa GB, but I feel the shared experience is diminished when there is a diversity of kits being built - that's my personal view. In actuality the members here decide by voting on proposals If you have an idea, put it forward _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

We do try to do a variety of GB's to give everyone a chance to participate. There are several types of GB, just to recap quickly the main ones are;
Standard GB.
Where we build a specific subject but in any scale e.g Spitfire which would cover any Airfix Spitfire kit in any scale 1/24 - 1/72.
Specific Kit GB.
Where everyone builds a specific kit e.g 1/72 Martin Marauder GB.
Theme GB.
Where we build to a theme, e.g, heavy bombers, which allows any kit which fits in the theme.
Then there are the specials such as the Africa GB which allows any kit of any subject - air sea or land to be built to the GB theme.
At the end of the day the GB's are all suggested by forum members and the decisions are generally democratic (yes I'm referring to the Typhoon GB ) and voted on. We also try to have several different GB's on the go at any one time, again to hopefully give as many people as possible to participate.
If anyone has an idea or suggestion they can make a post in the relevent GB forum and the interest of other forum members can be judged and acted upon.
