Ratch, you had set the permissions of the Belfast GB to "Private" so nobody could see it except for members of the Usergroup and Admins!  I have just changed the settings to the "normal" settings.

Aaah!  - I'd noticed that not many people seemed to be looking at how the builds were progressing but decided it was all the plane & tank guys ignoring things that float!

Thanks for fixing that Dave.

I've set up a poll for the Liners at War Group Build. We still need a build leader for this.

Ratch

Im flattered that you think Im up to the job, still very new to this GB thing (Belfast is my first) but getting the hang of it, with a bit more experience especially with setting up the subject forum etc, would give it a go, I see from Steven's post that it would likely be after the carrier group build, so I could certainly consider it, if you think I am suitably experienced.

I think you'd be more than capable chippy, and we're always around to help out if needed.

We would set up the user group and forum for the build, whilst the GB leader sets up the individual build, reference, chat and gallery threads, and approves anyone who asks to join.  After that, how much you do is your choice - some people like to lead from the front, some like to prod participants with a stick every now and then, but neither is absolutely necessary.

Chippy, are you volunteering to be Group Build leader for the Liners at War Group Build? It wasn't clear from your previous post.

Steven, JackJ should lead the Flat Top build because he proposed it and Chippy should lead the Liners at War build as that was basically his idea

Hi Steven

Yes I would be happy to lead the Liners at War build, might need advice though, its addictive this GB lark, must admit though it is great to do a build like this, I have picked up loads of tips from following the threads, Belfast is going well and looking forward to the carrier build

Best wishes

Geoff

Just had a thought that could be considered for a future Group Build.

I am considering having a go at a conversion Tiger to Colony class (HMS Mauritius) in fact as most of the donor bits will come from a Belfast kit that I have in my stash.

Got the idea from Dave's brilliant archive of the old Airfix articles.

I think it would be great for guys to see a conversion in real time along with personal interpretation of the method well documented with pictures and dialogue etc.

What do you guys think - it could of course be widened to other Airfix kits ie Suffolk to London, Tiger to Blake, Leander to any of the derivatives etc, comments welcome

Chippy

ps Dave does this fall within the scope of a group build?

An interesting idea. I suppose this could extend into specific re-fits for a given ship.
