Well done chaps!

I'll hopefully get moving on the Kamov again this weekend.

I'll be joining you on one of those some time after the Yaks get here.....BTW did you notice their HUMA (not to mention 'Vintage Kits') section?  Nailbiting

I've ordered a couple of Huma kits from my LMS, so I didn't check. As for the vintage kits section, I do have bills to pay you know Andy! Stop it!

Like I said, I'd have a crack at doing a bit on the Kamov. I did a bit of sanding back of the fuselage halves last night. It was a bit of a pain as the mismatch is quite noticeable. I then went round and filled all of the gaps - of which there are very many!

This morning I sanded back all of the filler and this afternoon have added the cockpit glazing and the horizontal stabiliser and stabiliser endplates. I've then gone ahead and added in some more filler to blend the cockpit glazing in. Here's the state of play now:

I've had to disassemble the tail section of the Kamov.

Why?

Because I just read the instructions    Maybe should have done that in the first place, huh? Those endplates are 90 degrees out of kilter. What you can see in the photo above as a horizontal line at the bottom should, in fact, be a vertical line with the smaller section to the front and the other section to the rear.

So, next time, read the instructions first, Dan, you wally.

I've also added a couple of antennae and sanded the filler back but really can't get into it at the moment and don't feel like doing any more

So here it is with the endplates turned around:

I need to get a few more details on it next and then I can press on...

I've done a bit more to the Kamov, incluing adding all manner of lumps and bumps, masking the glass-work and getting it onto its gear. Hopefully this means that the fiddly-bits are done, at least to the fuselage, for now.

I reckon it's going to look a lot more ungainly once those contra-rotating rotors are added to the top of it!

An update from me.
Good old Eastern Express eh?
First impression: Great!

Second impression. Erm?

We're talking flash in an epic scale here. On every sprue. Although thankfully a couple of the smaller sprues seem better.

Yes, that is an inside out tank box.

& the instructions (obviously printed on toilet paper) need to be seen to be believed...

I'm going to need to be in exactly the right state of insanity to tackle this kit (which I will eventually, as I like the aircraft) but as it's happened, I've bottled it, & gone for something equally suitable:

Updates over the next week or so

You really don't want that - it's the old FROG. Run away. Fast.

Pavla make a decent Skua (and Roc). I have the Roc.

Hey Sarge, if you really want one do a search on Aviation Megastore website, enter 'Skua' in the search bar, it seems they have a Novo boxing ----  aaaaaaannnd ----- an original Frog release no less.  There's also a correction set by Magna Models for the kit.

As for my Kamov - not with photographing as yet but I've added all of the last lumps, bumps and twiddly bits to the fuselage and laid down one coat of H64 primer. I've also done a bit of a job with Humbrol filler on the stretcher pods that now need sanding back before I can think about doing anything else to them.

Pics after more progress this weekend....

I won it on ebay sarge, for about £2.70 all in, I was the only bidder.
Build's progressed at a fair rate now, most of it's together. I would have taken more photos but there's so few components it would have been a little tedious for you guys. Caopy marking was done first as it's a pet peeve of mine, & I like to get the worst part out of the way first.

I think Brews is right about the kit, if I had anywhere near the skill required to deal with vac form canopies I wouldn't have chosen the Revell version. I'm probably the opposite of an expert but it appears pretty inaccurate to me; I may be imagining it but the wings look far too small?!
The wing root fit is the worst I've ever come accross.

Normally on kits where the panel lines are raised I just leave it as I love the raised detail & rivets even if they're inaccurate, but a 1mm gap in places would have been ridiculously obvious so I've resorted to filler

The cowling looks like "Bill & Ben's" hats!

Maybe the Pavla kit is a better bet after all.....It's a Roc that I really want anyway.

All the best
