Welcome aboard LD.

You will be happy to know that Airfix kits are still being manufactured following the rescue of Airfix by Hornby in November 2006. You can get more details about Airfix in the Airfix, Clubs and Chat Forum.

Welcome LD - as you mentioned, we have a lot of returning builders here who have rediscovered the joys of fiddling with little bits of plastic

Hope you find the site useful - feel free to pitch in!

Hi everybody!

My name is Michael Schmidt

Age: 42

Residence: Juelsminde (Denmark)

I'm an machinist on a compressor factory

I begun scalemodelling when I was about 10. The hobby faded out 5-6 years later.
Then I started up again 4 years ago, when I discovered Modelsforsale.
I mainly do 1/72 Aircraft.

Other interests: Football (Spurs is my team in Premier Legue). Sci Fi movies.
Music (U2-Simpel Minds-The Verve-Coldplay and a lot more). German Sheppards

I just can't get enough of Fawlty Towers.. Simply the best comedy ever.

Welcome to the forums Jef!

Tell me, as a Gardener, have you ever dug up any inanimate flints thinking that they were neolithic tools?

Oh shush!

By the way, did I tell you about the bronze age tent peg I dug up last week?

Edit: Anyway, aren't all flints inanimate, or do you get more lively rocks in East Anglia?

Thought I'd say hello, from Calgary, Canada.

I've been building models for about 36 years, with a few interruptions. Grew up (in the UK) on Airfix from Woolies, and Matchbox and FROG kits from the local newsagents. First kit was an Airfix Mosquito built after my dad had taken me to see 633 Squadron.

Nowadays I build anything that takes my fancy- mainly aircraft, often in 1/48, and a bit of armour too.

I'm a graphic designer/illustrator by profession. My wife Kerry, bless 'er, is totally supportive of my strange hobby tendencies; my two teenage kids, on the other hand, think I'm a little eccentric.

Anyway, glad to be here.

Thanks for the welcome, Owen.. Yes, Kitnut and I have been for coffee on a couple of occasions, he's since moved out of the area. Calgary is quite a hub of modelling activity. We have about 8 model shops, at least two thriving model clubs and annual contests, and several after-market companies.

Hiya Mike,

Well I'm not to far away, in Trochu at the moment. And as it happens Uncle Bill's is now my nearest LMS. Mind you I'm not sure what's in Red Deer.

Hi Mike!

Noticing where some of your aircraft pics are hosted, taking your Christian name and username, then adding 2+2 to make 7.834, you wouldn't have anything to do with the production of certain instrument panel decals would you ?
