Erm, no it wasn't. We vote on the subject, and then everyone builds whatever it was that won the vote... |
We could have a a GB where participants could choose their own jet! (As long as its Airfix) _________________ You must listen to what the baked potato say.....

We could have lots of things, but at the moment the voting is for a specific aircraft fast jet GB.
There's plenty of time next year and plenty of ideas, so eventually everyone will find a GB which they want to join. Unfortunately it's not practical to have too many running at once. Just have to be patient - look how long it took me to persuade everyone to have a Anson GB

These things are suggested and discussed in the future group builds thread.
The idea of a fast jet GB was muted and Adrian made the suggestion of a single aircraft GB as we have had several theme builds recently. No one posted against this idea or suggested an alternative. Therefore we have the current poll for a single aircraft fast jet GB.
There are several ideas for future GB's knocking around; Century series, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Cold War. Anybody can make a suggestion for a future GB in the thread linked to above. From the reaction of the other forum members it can be guaged if it has enough support to go ahead as a poll.
Unfortunately it is impossible to please everyone all of the time .

The point is that you do NOT hijack a polling thread where a subject or theme has already been chosen following discussions in the Future GBs thread. As Richard has mentioned, the place to suggest subjects for new GBs is in that thread and not here.

At the risk of being repetitious. Check the Future GB thread.
The idea of a fast jet GB was suggested by Adrian (Farmroad38) on 23/3/07, the idea was resurrected on 18/7/07 and it was generally discussed as a single aircraft GB. Adrian as GB guru, (through whom all ideas of polls should run before being posted), decided now would be the appropriate time to run the poll.
Time to give this one up Luke! By all means feel free to make further suggestions for GB's in the appropriate place.
Many thanks

Luke,
I was going to start a Jets GB poll anyway, but your post and Ratch's Harrier poll meant that I posted it slightly earlier than I was intending. That doesn't mean it was your idea and it doesn't mean that you can get the hump just because we aren't doing what you want. If you want to suggest a group build theme, bring it up in the relevant place, as you have been asked to do several times now. _________________ Cheers,

So we're building a Harrier? Ratch will be pleased
Next time we'll have a real fast jet vote - the criteria being an aircraft which can actually break the sound barrier

Yes, Harrier it is. Ratch is so pleased that he has 'volunteered' to be Group Build leader too...
I'll set up a poll for when we'll do this one a bit later. _________________ Cheers,

Rich - what, like an Anson with a pair of afterburning J79s and a slightly more pointy nose? _________________ Airbusians. |

If you put big enough engines on anything you can get it to go fast, to support my argument I present the McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom!
If you saddled up an Anson I'm fairly sure the parts of it that are strongly glued to the engine will keep pace with it, you might be missing a few bits like the fuselage and wings - nothing really important

See - you quote my case in point! The J79 is the Phantom engine (except in Britain, of course ).... All about it here :http://www.geae.com/engines/military/j79/index.html
I've always fancied doing that to a piano, myself.
Actually, if you want big and you aren't fussed about supersonic, how about a GE90-115B... double or more the overall size of the Anson..... http://www.geae.com/engines/commercial/ge90/ge90-115b.html
Or a rocket powered Anson.
See, the possibilites are endless!!! :lol _________________ Airbusians. |

When do we start |
It's like having an excited Yorkshire Terrier yapping at your ankles... okay, it's a 6' 6" Yorkshire Terrier, but you know what I mean!
I was thinking starting this one sometime around January, so we'd poll for the start date mid-November-ish. Sound okay? _________________ Cheers,

Yikes - to dare, or not to dare, that is the question!
I have a 1/48 Kit in the cupboard, not worth it IMHO with what's going on at the mo!
Would it be possible to transfer my build details over from the Falklands GB into this Harrier GB? I can understand if the answer is no, but it'd help to keep me on top of things with more focus on the build again. The 1/24 GR3 has stalled at the moment so a transfer would mean a really good kick up the rear _________________ Owen

In a strange way, I think those ones look more interesting than normal Harriers...
I've got to decide which one I'm going to do - I think I've got a GR3 and GR7, but I quite like the look of the trainer too...
I was even considering the possibility of a little diorama - maybe one taking off on a ramp, or tucked away in a roadside hide? _________________ Cheers,
