Looks good so far Adrian, nice to see what can be done with a kit that was never to be for me! _________________ Owen

First coat of H79 grey has gone on, and I've started sticking on the wheels, radar etc.
Couldn't resist dry fitting the (now painted) rotor to see how it looks!

So, halfway through and time for another quick review of progress.
As with other builds, I'd set myself a target of having construction mostly complete after one month, leaving another month for painting, decalling & any tidying up. Bang on target with this one, as it's mostly together and I've given the body an initial coat of H79.
As for how well it's going, I'd say so-so. Bit of a hitch with some of the cockpit construction as detailed earlier, one of the side windows has glue smears on it where I had to refit it after it popped out, and the cockpit windows (now attached) aren't a particularly good fit.
Will post some pics tomorrow to show progress. _________________ Cheers,

Here's a pic of the main body. No great signs of progress other than the canopy being on, but it's now had a coat of paint all over, plus I've started painting the weapons load. Obviously going to need another coat of grey as it's a bit patchy, but I'm happy with progress so far.

Looking good Adrian! Not only could this build be finished on time but... could it possibly be... early?!

Now don't get carried away... I'm away for two days on business this week and next, then off to Saudi Arabia in early March, so there's still time for me to fade away
However, I am hoping to get as much done this weekend as I can, so we'll see! _________________ Cheers,

Bit miffed tonight. I tidied away my modelling gear on Tuesday night before I went away. Got it all back out again tonight to discover that I'd put something on top of the Seasprite's rotor, and had snapped one of the blades off at the root. I've glued it back, so I'm hoping it will be okay.
Anyway, having given it a base coat of H79, I've started painting some details - wheel wells and olios in gloss white, tail band and radar dome in yellow. There are only a couple of parts left to attach, plus the doors and rotor assembly. Things are looking good for it to be finished before the end date. _________________ Cheers,

Gosh - hadn't realised that I hadn't posted an update for so long!
I've been away for work a couple of days a week for the last four weeks which has slowed things, but I'm well on the way. Painting is mostly done, and I've put on a coat of Klear in order to put on some decals before attaching the rotors and various other sticky out bits!
I'll post some pics tomorrow. _________________ Cheers,

Here are the pics as promised.
I think she's looking quite nice! I'll try to get most of the decals on this weekend - once that's done I can attach the last few delicate bits and bobs, final coat of (probably satin?) varnish and then attach the rotor. Should have her finished by the deadline!

Applied a fair number of the decals now - some of the smaller stencils are quite tricky to locate as the instructions are very faint.
The quality of the decals is excellent though - mostly in register (slight problem on the stars & stripes), suffucuently thick that they don't break up, but not so thick that they stand proud.
Here's an example. The observant amongst you will notice that in earlier pictures, this tail rotor was actually attached to the tail... Slight mishap when I dropped the stupid thing whilst applying a decal to the fuselage!

I may have muttered one or two discouraging words. I was just glad that it was only the tail rotor that came off! _________________ Cheers,

Go on then - how many of you doubting Thomas's thought I wasn't going to finish in time?
Here she is, all done. Had one or two little 'opportunities' on the way and there are some bits that I'm distinctly unhappy with. But with a bit of creative photography, and from the right angle, I think it's turned out a pretty little thing!
More pics in the gallery. _________________ Cheers,

Forgot to say - slightly disappointed with the decals. Lots of them, but they were out of register (look at the stars & bars), and a little smudgy. Difficult to locate a lot of them too, because the instructions were very blurred, but at least they settled nicely. _________________ Cheers,
