Well, as the GB starts in a couple of weeks, I guess I should tell you all what I'll be building!
I'll be doing the Army Lynx, and also probably the Westland Scout.

Well, as I'm doing two builds, just like Dan is, I'll report them separately too.
I'll start with the Army Lynx. The kit is in a dark green colour, with not too much flash. Here's the box:
and the instructions:
The sprues are generally okay, with only a couple of bits loose, not too much flash.
And finally the decals:
I've made a start today, by painting the interior H27 and starting the pilots.
I'm away for a few days now, but hopefully I'll be able to make more progress next weekend,

And here's the Scout.
The plastic is again the dark green colour with not too much flash again.
Here's the box, front and back, because it has the painting instructions on the back of the box.
Here are the instructions:
And finally the sprues. If you look very carefully you'll notice that the rotor head is broken!
I have made a start on this one too, first job was fixing the rotor head with super glue, then painting the interior of the helicopter and starting the pilots.
Again, I hope I'll make more progress next weekend!

Well, I have made some more progress, the pilots on both the Lynx and the Scout are almost ready, they just need their faces, glare shields and lifejackets painting and they'll be ready.
On the Lynx, I've started to put the cockpit together, all painted in H27, but I've stopped that until I can put the pilots in, because from past experience, getting the pilots legs under the control panel is not always the easiest part of the build!
On the Scout, I was about to start assembling the cockpit when I realised I hadn't painted the floor! So, that's been done now.
I'll try and take some pics tonight, and post them later.

Now the weekend's arrived, I've managed to make some more progress on both of the helicopters.
Firstly, here's the Lynx.
I've got the pilots finished and in the cockpit:
And I've built the rotors (but I needed Dan's help to get this part done!)
On the Scout, I've built the cockpit:
I've also added the pilots to the cockpit, and the control stick. I've started painting parts of the engine, and the panel that the engine will sit on.
So I am making progress, if somewhat slower than some of you!!

Well, on Sunday I managed to make a lot more progress on both of the helicopters.
Firstly the Lynx. Here's the interior built with all the bench seats in:
and also in the starboard fuselage half:
I've now got the fuselage together, and I'll try and post some pics of that tomorrow.
On the Scout, I've put the pilots in the cockpit, and attached it to the starboard fuselage half too:
This fuselage is also together, with only the centre bit of transparency to make fit. (That's going to be a bit of a challenge!)
So, all going well so far!

Fond memories of what Heinkel?
Well, here's the Lynx, now finally together!
It needs sanding on the join, but apart from that it went together quite well.
As for the Scout, well, that's together too but I don't seem to have any pictures of that, so I'll post them when I can!
Hopefully lots more progress will be made this weekend!

Well this weekend, I managed to do quite a bit on both of the helicopters.
Firstly, the Lynx. I've fitted the glass to the front of the fuselage as well as various fairings for the engines.
The rotors are coming along, and the first coat of H30 has been applied to the tail rotor.
As for the Scout, well, firstly here are the pics of the fuselage together.
The next step after this was to fit the main bit of glass. But it was leaving a huge gap at the bottom at the front. I decided it was the control panel that was causing the problem so I started to sand it down quite a lot (as you can see in the picture above). Eventually the control panel came out, and then I discovered that it wasn't causing the problem at all. So, after all this had been fixed, I've put the glass in, and I'm now left with a gap to fill!
On another note, the rotor is now together, and, as the rotor head is white, that'll be sprayed the next time we do some spraying!

Once again in Paula's absence a quick pic of her build - here's her Lynx starting to be primed:

So, here's where I am now.
Firstly, the Scout. I filled the gap under the windscreen, taped it off and primed it with H64:
I've now got the skids on, with the rather complex mountings, and I've also added the horizontal stabiliser.
As for the Lynx, well, firstly the priming was finished, then the skids were added. They went on fairly easily. The camouflage is in two colours, H33 and H86. I've started with the H33.
So, they are both progressing well.

Nice builds so far!
I keep toying with the idea of converting my Scout into a Wasp. |

Paula, when applying colour, it is usually best to work from the lightest to the darkest Hu: 33 being darker will cover Hu: 86 easier than the other way round _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

Thanks Ratch, I was only 'sperimentin with the camo. Hopefully I won't have any problems applying the H86 at the weekend,

Slightly question, but I always wondered why Airfix never released a Westland Wasp based on their charismatic little 1/72 Westland Scout. IIRC they released most versions of the Lynx over the years.
I think that a 1/72 Westland Wasp would make a far better selling modified kit than a Matilda Hedgehog!

Here's the Lynx, now it's had two coats of H86 applied.
I've built the weapons pylons, but not painted them yet, and the doors aren't on because I'm hoping they'll actually move when it's together! Still, yesterday, when I started looking at attaching the doors, I fitted the lower runners first. They had both been painted, and it was then that I realised one had been painted green where it should be black and vice versa! So a bit of corrective work needed there!
And here's the Scout:
It's been sprayed gloss white on the belly, and had it's first coat of H19 on the top.

I'm quite pleased with the way the Lynx is coming along. I've started tidying up the door runners and other bits and pieces so it's coming along well.
As for the Scout, it's had it's third coat of H19 on the top and I've assembled the engine which sits in the gap behind the cockpit.
I haven't got any pics at the moment, but hopefully I will have by Monday.
