Thank's Paula, I shall be building the Bristol Belvedere. Luckily the build isn't until January, so that gives me time to figure out where the heck I stashed it!

That reminds me of an old story (your "wocka wocka wocka wocka thump") about an army initiative test - may be a total load of old codswallop but I like to think it's true.

There's a group of a dozen or so soldiers told by their sarge to think of a way of bridging a ditch with minimal equipment to hand. Fancying himself as a bit of a wag, the sarge tells them that the ditch is filled with shark infested custard

The lads huddle together for a few minutes and then form an orderly line at the edge of the ditch. The Private at the head of the queue and the Private at the back of the queue begin whirling their arms ove their heads and shouting "Wokka wokka wokka" at the top of their lungs.

"Hold it!" shouts the sarge. "Where'd you get that Chinook from?"

"Same place you got that shark infested custard, sarge!" comes the reply.

No doubt they passed the initiative test - I mean, ya couldn't very well fail 'em for that, could ya!

Love that!

Always been wary of airborne blenders. When I was around Halton in the nineties a chap from the med lab that I knew had some parts from a Major who'd been involved in a helicopter incident.

He was leading some of his men on a night training excercise, they were picked up by helicopter to be dropped off somewhere. Apparently, the loadmaster gave an "ambiguous" hand signal, which the Major interpreted as "we're down, f off my helicopter", so with a "Follow me chaps!" proceeded to get out of the helicopter, unfortunatetly it was still at 300 feet. Never found out the outcome but I got the impression a lot of brown stuff was hitting fans

Give me two or more props, some wings and a parachute and I'm a happy bunny!

The loady opened to door to check clearance for landing and the major who had been dozing thought they had landed and jumped out. Knew the loady

Well here are the obligatory box top and sprue shots. Not an amazing number of parts - the cockpit windscreen is the most annoying, being split vertically right down the middle!

Fulselage halves consists mainly of rivets!

Decals seem reasonable.

Hope you're going to model the pilot in the same pose as the box-art

Cracking on. First thing I did was to epoxy the windows in place and glue the cockpit bulkhead in, bit of a gap around the edge.

I glued a piece of drinking straw into the rear intake, just so you couldn't see into the fuselage.

The door did't fit terribly well and required some shims of plastic card to get it flush with the surrounding surfaces.

Got the fuselage glued together, bit of work needed doing in places.

Glued some plastic card over the intakes(?) by the forward and rear landing gear to save on a bit of work.

Cockpit is a bit off center, caused by glueing it into one half before assembly, shouldn't be too noticeable once the transparencies are on.

The tail intake will need a bit of work.

Trimmed and painted the intake(?) covers with acrylic Hu85 prior to assembley.

Sanded off all the rivets - took a while! The intake covers required a few pieces of plastic card to cover a gap. Applied filler to various places and the seams.

Going together pretty quickly.

Ayup Rich...

BOOOO! We (I) like Airfix rivets! they're part of the kits charm!

You can shave with those, you know...

Nice Build, BTW...

Go the front undercarriage on.

Plus the rear, both sets needed some filler to blend them in.

Once this was done I started painting the cockpit, Hu27 base.

I did the seats in black with green pads and added some decal harnesses.

Glued the tailplane assemblies in place, filled and snaded them down.

Epoxied the two part windscreen together, you can see the rather annoying join line very clearly.

This was epoxied onto the cockpit. Fit was pretty good but a bit of filler was required on the underside.

That's good work there, Rich.
looks a bit like an angry wasp or insect.
Might have been a good idea to have joined those two nose transparent pieces using Klear perhaps? However I am sure that with Micromesh polishing cloths that line will fade.
All the activity on the Airfix Rotors Group Build makes me wish I had joined!

Still time Ron - you've only missed 6 days!

Doesn't part of the black canopy frame cover the line of the join anyway?

Glued the canopy in place with epoxy. Went on pretty well only a few gaps along the bottom edge. Applied some Humbrol filler.

Once this was dry I wet sanded this off, pretty easy work. Unfortunately when I took of the masking tape it was apparent that every bit of dust from the interior had now attached itself to the inside of the canopy
There's nothing I can do about this now (I'm not chopping this one up!). So I applied masking, I used Maskol due to the curvature of the surfaces - we'll see how this works out.

I put the rotors together and filled in the peg holes on the underside. So they're all ready for paint.

I've also attached the aerail masts and the wing mirrors - really does look like a bug now!

Unfortunately the cockpit is pretty much sealed up, even if I blasted air in it would probably only stir the dust up.

Primers on .

Next step is to spray white over the whole surface. I was going to use gloss white so it would act as a good base for the metalcote, but I only have Hu130 satin so I'll see how that goes on.

Ayup Rich...

Fantastic stuff!

Now you've got the Belvedere up to priming, i see now, looking at the boxart what a mistake all those rivets are! all that filler frightened me as well !

This build is looking sweet. don't you have a Halford-type chain for Glacier-white paint?

Nice looking 'copter though...
