Went to Adelaide (Australia) last weekend. The South Australian Aviation Museum are restoring an Avro Anson. Not sure if the pictures are of use given its current state.

The thumbnails expand to resized pictures that I've reduced. I have large copies (3mb) that I can e-mail direct if people are interested.

Very fine pictures Luke.
Here's another, a Mk XIX, being slowly restored at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, York, in the UK..

Are you looking for codes, serials, paint schemes or all three?

All three
I do know some odd codes or serial numbers but not corresponding ones for for the same aircraft
I presume DE/DG upper with yellow undersurfaces, half way up the fuselage

I have the following references available, if anyone wants to check for a specific aircraft or wants plans or specifications.

Air Britain "The Anson File". Ray Sturtivant. The bible, history of every Anson produced.

Warpaint "Avro Anson Mks I-22". Alan Hall. Includes scale 1/72 plans.

Images of Aviation "Avro Anson". Harry Holmes. Lots of pictures.

"Avro, The History of an Aircraft Company". Harry Holmes.

"Avro Anson Mks I, III, IV, X". Alan Hall and Eric Taylor. Pictures of various marks and special ops machines.

"Avro Aircraft since 1908". A J Jackson. Lots on the history and variants.

"The History of Britains Military Training Aircraft". Ray Sturtivant.

Airplane Part 197 Avro Anson. Foldouts and line diagrams.

Air Pictoral July 1985. "Anson's 50th Birthday".

Vintage Aircraft No.5 Avro Anson I Air Test.

Pilots Notes for Anson I, Two Cheetah IX Engines.

Anson Aircraft Mk.I, IV, X and XI RAAF and RAF Manual 1942.

I can scan images and plans if any one is interested, or if you know the serial number of a specific plane I can trace it's history and maybe find some images.

Hi Rich,
Less than 4 hours to go!
If possible I would appreciate anything on
N5314 a Mk1 Anson in 1939.
Also if possible please I would appreciate copies of the Warpaint 1:72 scale plans of a Mk1.
BTW your Youtube video was excellent. Is it the Duxford Anson?

Found some information Ron, which I've posted in your thread. I'll scan the plans as soon as I can.

Ratch, I'm looking, unfortunately most of my records are based on the serials of aircraft rather than units. I'll do my best.

Can I post a question here or should it go in my own section?

I'll post it here and if it's wrong could I ask a moderator to move it to the applicable section, thanks.

Whilst quite happy with any of the 3 options given in the box I think it might be quite nice to do something different, however the only after-market decals I've found are for a few french versions that don't really interest me.

Does anyone know of other decal options?

Cheers

Paul

In 1/72 that's pretty much it! Otherwise you have to prepare your own from various decal sets with national insignia etc.

The Special Hobby kit contains three options, all British aircraft.
No500 Sqn. 1940. Dark earth/dark green over silver dope.
No502 Sqn 1940. Dark earth/dark green over silver dope.
No9 Flying Training School 1939. Dark earth/dark green over trainer yellow.

If you fancy any of those three I can let you have a spare set of decals.

The French EG352 decal set is dark earth/dark green over azure blue.

If there is nothing there you fancy I'll scan some profiles tomorrow for you to have a look at.

Thanks Rich.

I have to say I'm quite taken by the No9 Flying Training School one, always thought the brown\green over yellow an attractive scheme.

Do you really have a spare set? If so I would like to take you up on your offer.

Thank you very much.

Cheers

Rich, I have two pix of Annies in my book
one is a DE/DG/TY scheme with the s/n N5331
the other appears to be silver dope, s/n K6152
The only thing is I don't know whether they fit into my scheme

N5331
Contract No 766119/38. Mk.I. Quantity 500. Serials N4856 - N5385. Built Newton Heath. Delivered 10/1938 - 9/1939.
27 Elementary Reserve Flying Training School, 10 Flying Training School(H10), 6 Air Observers Navigation School (5), 6 Air Observers School, 10 Radio School (5-47. Struck of charge 16/3/1945.

No.10 FTS, Ternhill, 7/1939-9/1939.
No. 6 AONS (renamed 6 AOS), Staverton, 1/11/1939 - 20/2/1942.

K6152
Contract No. 421119/35. Mk.I. Quantity 174. Serials K6152 - K6425. Built Newton Heath. Delivered 3/1936 - 4/1937.
Makers, Royal Aircraft Establishment, Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, 219 Sqn, 220 Sqn. Overshot throught hedge landing Catterick 13/10/1939.

220 Sqn. Bircham Newton 17/8/1936 - 25/8/1030. Thornaby 25/8/1939 - 1/1940. Codes HU to 9/1939, then PK briefly, then NR.

This aircraft is one of the ones with the early sloped windscreen, which isn't available, you'd have to crash form your own.

That's the information I have, it's not complete for some of the units and squadrons.

I bunged this query in my build thread but thought I should put it in here.

Having found my old Esci decal sheet for the Annie I'm going to be modelling N5331.

I've got a couple of photos of her with 6 AOS as '5'. One of them, although with light problems looks as if it has a Polish 'checkerboard' on the nose behind the 5. Can anyone confirm whether that's the case?
