Thanks
Yes I keep all my tinlets upside-down    I make sure the seal is nice & tight before inverting and putting the tinlet back in my paint tray    I have had the odd spillage, when paint has built up on the lid (i.e. very old tinlets)    but my system works for me

Looks great so far.

Since the Anson is Series 2, when I use my 10 flying hours I may get one

Cool. I will try that system when I get back to Aus and can start buying Humbrol again.

Looking forward to your finish.

I have set up a Poll here as I cannot decide whether the preshading looks OK or not
Please feel free to vote and pass comment there

Here are my latest pix

The pre-shading was too heavy Ratch - not very subtle, that's why it doesn't appear to have worked very well. You need to set the airbrush to fine lines. Like Rich I'm not convinced this is the way to go with an airframe that in real life was mainly covered in fabric.

I was not concerned about how 'thickly' it went on, I intended to minimise it with the overcoat of 'finish' colour
As you can guess Paul, I'm very much a novice, trying to work out how to acheive that subtle effect    Always ready to take advice

This is really beginning to frustrate me now
I've started masking up for the DE spray, the Lewis gun had become unglued, with no way of re-fixing it, the starboard side windows are unstuck at the bottom making masking virtually impossible, and the masking I've done for the frames looks rubbish
I think I'll have to put this aside before I do something I'll regret later  Nailbiting

If you look closely at my pictures you will also notice that both my side glazing had come unstuck at the bottom. Caused by picking it up and not noting where I was placing my fingers. So I had to use PVA to re-glue and as a filler

That's the trouble with the glazing, the windows are very easy to pop out, especially given the amount of filling and sanding that can be necessary.

Try the PVA or clear epoxy along the bottom edge. For the lewis gun, is it the whole mount or just the gun which is loose? Might be possible to pry the turret canopy off if you've just used pva or clearfix to attach it.

I'll leave this until Monday, I'm on holiday for a week and should be better prepared to tackle it

I'm now considering using decal strips to depict the framing

I've used Xtracolor X2 - BS250 (ex-BS450) RAF Dark Earth for the first airbrushing of the upper surfaces, which actually looks very dark to me

A couple of pix

The only other model I've used the Xtracolor paints on was this Miles Master

Hopefully the chocolatey appearance will be less pronounced

Today I sprayed the X-1 BS241 (ex BS641) RAF Dark Green

I still think it looks too dark
The missing engine cowling was done (stuck on with masking tape), both cowlings still need to have the props fitted
Due to some poor masking, my next job will be general touching up
As can be seen, I managed to get the turret off to re-fix the gun
Onwards and upwards

Do a small test area to see how it looks with a matt finish Ratch. If you still think it's too dark.....
