I will be building the tiny little 1/72 Westland Gazelle (01059).

Here's the obligatory sprue shot

Looking at the sprues there'e only a tiny bit of flash near the rear of the tail so hopefully should go together well (famous last words).

I shall be doing it oob (except to scratch a console) using the kit decals for No 607 Squadron, Armt Air corps, Middle Wallop 1988 (Was tempted to do the RAF version but it involves using white paint which is an absolute mare to paint without an airbrush).

Started working on this today. Just assembled the cockpit and the engine, all went together fine.
Also made a little console out of plasticard.

Primed the cockpit, engine and the rotors with Hu1. Will leave to dry overnight before painting them tomorrow.

After the primer had dried it showed a slight seam between the two engine halves, have applied some filler and will sand it down later tonight or tomorrow.

Meanwhile I gave the cockpit it's first coat of Hu128 (US Compass Grey) and the console Hu21 Gloss black.

I did take some pictures but they were poor due to the lack of light so I won't bother posting them.

Little bit more progress to report.

Second coat of Hu128 went on the cockpit, seat cushions for the pilots were painted Hu103 Cream and also started painting the tips of the rotors Hu24 Trainer Yellow.

Sanded down the engine and apliied another coat of Hu1 and it looks much better now.

Will post pictures in the next couple of days when the cockpit is fully painted, my digital camera is ancient and the batteries only hold their charge for an hour or so.

Disaster has struck. While moving my model from the lounge back to my room I have lost part number 26 which is the starboard door.
Searched high and low but to no avail.
Have sent Airfix an e-mail saying I have lost it and waiting to hear if they will replace it for me, even though it was my fault.

In the mean time the seat cushions have been given another coat of of Hu103 and the engine has been given a second coat.
The Hu55 (Bronze) is proving a little tricky. It's extremely thin and doesn't want to stay on the model.

Here's an update of where I am.

Cockpit is fully painted, just need to dry brush the console with a bit of silver to highlight the dials and glue this in place.

Clear fixed the small side windows in place.

And finally shots of the engine.

Sorry about the poor pictures but my digi cam is really old and doesn't like taking close up photos!!

It does and it was on. Tis only 3 mega pixel though and is at least 5 years old. Think I'm going to get a new one for my birthday but that isn't until may.

Today I added some weight to the cockpit floor after reading a couple of online reviews thats said this was a tail sitter.

Attatched the console to the cockpit and added some seatbelts.

And then finally glued the fuselage halves together. These went together very well and I don't think any filler will be needed, although now I've said that I'm sure a coat of primer will show up some gaps!!

If the camera is too close when using the macro zoom , the picture will blurr.
My camera has a minimum focal length  quoted as 10 mm  , but the camera must be at least 300 mm from the subject for a crystal clear picture. Also I have to rest it on something solid too.

Thanks for the advice. Haven't got the destructions for the camera any more so I don't know the minimal focal length, but I'll try taking pictures from a bit further away in the next batch.

When I take photos of my models I zoom the camera in to the max and then move myself back until it all comes into focus, at least it seems to work better that way for me.

That should work too, just don't take pics on steps or near cliffs .....

Lol. Camera rarely leaves the house so there's no danger of any accident there!!

Little more progress today, added the roof and the windscreen transparency's using clearfix. Not entirely happy with the results but after trying for an hour and a half I did the best I could.

Also added the skids and it was a good job I added some wieght because it's a tail sitter. Shame Airfix don't mention this in the destructions.

Will post pics tomorrow when the clearfix is fully cured and camera is recharged.

Pictures of what I did yesterday and the results are better than I had first thought, still room for improvement though

This morning I masked the canopy.......

...... and then gave it a thin coat of primer.

Tonight I will give it a coat of Hu128 as per the instructions (US Compass grey I think).
