Various bits of assembly and painting have happened, but have been broken up by another work trip.  I'll post some pictures later today hopefully!

Hi Adrian, know what you mean about work getting in the way, spent a couple of days last week at an RAF base and am teaching all this week into the early evening and the week after am at the NEC in Birmingham for three days, progress seems to be a bit slow for me at the moment, will check in later for your pics

Didn't manage to get the pics taken last night, but I snapped a couple this morning.  They aren't much good - the white balance on my camera seems to have gone all screwy again.

Anyway, as you can see, the main superstructure is now on.  I've started painting the camo - H65 on over the top of the H64, but you can't see it very well.  It's going to need another coat at least.

One problem I came across is that the painting instructions only show one side of the ship!

I had that problem too, so I used The Boss' build for reference

Good plan!

Interesting that you, Dave and BAC have all painted the forward funnel in a darker blue - my interpretation of the (rather vague and photocopied) instructions was that it should be the lighter H65.

And I hate to tell you Ratch, but I think your forward funnel is upside down  - I believe that it should slant backwards, whereas yours goes straight up...

I found that using the colour spread in Profile really helped, the colour shades of the Humbrol enamels are slightly out using the WEM colourcoat colours made the whole thing so much easier.  Plus Ive now got my warship perspectives on RN camouflage schemes ( all three volumes) which is brilliant so if anyone needs specific schemes I might be able to help.

Thanks to Geoff (chippy), I've got a port side scheme and have been merrily painting for the last three weeks.  Sadly, Real Life has been restricting my modelling time so progress has been painfully slow, but I'm not that far away.

Here she is - currently masked up to paint the boot-topping.

Still got to paint the blue on the topside, the gun turrets, and stick on various other bits and bobs.  Doubt I'll make the deadline, but I won't be a million miles away.

I'm not far off now.  Spent the last couple of nights sticking on the last few fiddly bits - mast, staircases and so on - that I didn't want to put on before as they might break off.  Once that's done, I'll get them painted up.

I've also painted the boot-topping and removed the masking.  First time I've ever done it, and I'm feeling very pleased with myself - looks really neat.  I'll take some pics tomorrow.

So close and yet so far... just one week late, here's my effort.  Built straight out of the box.

I did take more pics than this, but most of them were unacceptably blurred!  I'll take some more at the weekend.

I'm reasonably pleased with how it's turned out.  As usual, some bits don't bear close scrutiny, but from a couple of feet it's not too bad.
