I've decided to take the plunge and have ordered the WEM photoetch
I'd like to model her as she was at the Battle of North Cape  Think  so some research is required

Hi Ratch,

As far as I can remember, you only have to omit the Walrus to get her in Battle of North Cape configuration.  Catapult remains as it is.

Yes, I'd made a note about the omission of the Walrus    I wasn't sure whether there were any other differences

Hi Ratch from what I can remember and have read, Dave is right just omit the Walrus, colour scheme is pretty accurate when you look at photos etc, ive found a few by Google that confirm the overall pattern as that in the instructions.

The warship profile booklet also has a very good double page colour view as well as a thumnail of the port side view, ive got a pic of that so will upload the link to it when I get back from the Lakes

No box or sprue pix as this was part of the 90301 V-E Day Set
I got my modelling area back today    and made a start on Belfast
An ejector pin mark was sanded off the rudder, and all components below the waterline were given a coat of Hu: 70 Matt Brick Red

As the paint job was merely a priming, I set about Stage 1 of the instructions
Cement was applied to the port half of the hull (avoiding the rudder area) the rudder was placed in position and the halves joined. I immediately applied cement to the inner 'ledges' and positioned the stern deck #30. Some pressure was then applied to minimise the possibility of gaps    This subassembly was left overnight to set and dry
Inspection this morning revealed that some minor work was required to clean up the join in the vicinity of the rudder, which involved liquid poly and a bulldog clip. The seam along the hull was less than perfect, so this was treated to a little filling and in due course sanding

I superglued the etch supports under the 4” gun sponsons amidships. It was then I realised I had assembled parts in the wrong order and the fitting of the torpedo tubes, boats and cleats (?) should have been done first. I did manage to sort these out without too much of a problem. Adding the torpedo tube doors revealed that they obscure the sponson supports, which is a little disappointing. I finished painting the camouflage scheme and removed the  Tamiya tape to reveal a nice clean edge (pix to follow) although I'm undecided as to how to apply the boot topping  Think

Ratch, quick one, looking at the PE launch track, I think you have it in the wrong place, looking at the drawings it should fit directly on to the main deck, so that the top is level with the hangar deck, if you look at the main deck there are two recesses in to which the plastic supports to the moulded track affix.  As you have it the Walrus would not be able to be wheeled out from the hangar on to the track. Have another look at it mate. In short it needs to be one deck lower.
