They are precisely the same shots as used in the last Heller boxing, which incidently can be routinely picked up for five ninety nine or less. This does suggest that the bagged kits were supplied direct by Heller and have been dropped straight into Airfix boxes.

The Heller version was still on catalogue immedeatly  prior to the Airfix release of the kit, so the styrene is not that old. I seem recall the original Heller boxing release way back in '79, was shot in a grey styrene.

Fuselage warpage looks like it has been in contact with a heat source after mould release. I have a couple, both are fine.

Mine was marked as Heller and in the same gunmetal or silver plastic.....My fuselage was, to say the least, springy once it was off the sprue!

If one digs out the original release reviews for the Heller kit, it was allways considered a challenging build. Despite the slightly dubious scale, the Frog kit was/is considered a better effort.

The breakdown of the parts could have been better thought out and it this along with the thin parts that make ithe Heller kit somewhat of a challenge.

As someone who's view on swearing that it is often a substitute for lack of vocabulary, I find it amazing that my post was censored.

The word was used entirely correctly in the dictionary sense, what made this censoring even worse was the so-called replacement word does not even have the same meaning!

Are we going to stop our youngsters reading modelling publications were this phrase is often and perhaps even routinely used? Crikey, what about all those other engineering words and phrases are we going to censor them as well?  Did you know the word cockpit has well know double entendre.

We need to ecourage those with limited english to the joys of  the langauge without fear and to use words in right context .

I rest my case.

I've got a Rapide with clear fuselage pieces I think it is one of the Aussie Tasman kits. With loads of photos and info and resin bits  etc. Certainly seems it was a known problem. If I could remember where I'd put it I'd take some pics of it, but I 'aint going looking , my stash is at 1051 kits at the moment.

I would suggest you Rapide builders check your refernces, particulary with regard to the window configuration, these changed between aircraft. The window aft of the door being a prime example, as not all machines had this.

Actually I had to think quite hard about whether or not to edit your post as I was quite aware that the word was being used in an appropriate context.  I chose to edit the word simply because you must, for whatever reason, have persisted in attempting to use the word after the filter blocked it.....Hence your substitution of an '@' for the 'a'!

Here's a question for all you chaps - specific to the Rapide, but also possibly useful from a general point of view.

The King's Flight scheme has a 'cheat line' of aluminium between the upper red and lower blue colours.  What would be the best way to paint this?  I've considered freehand (fat chance of getting it anywhere near straight), masking (could be tricky to get it an even thickness along the whole length of the body) and by painting aluminium onto some clear decal.

I guess it's the same sort of thing as the boot-topping on a ship, which is something I've never done.

With boot topping I've found the masking tape method best (then brush painted)

Thanks Ratch.  Anyway, turns out I should read the instructions more carefully - there's already a decal for the line along the fuselage
