Thanks Paddy! Yes, WWI battleships are a neglected area with many interesting configurations, compared to the standard 4x2 and 3x3 configurations of WWII. I believe Airfix already has a Queen Elizabeth class ship, HMS Warspite, being reissued this year! The Royal Sovereign class is very similar to Queen Elizabeth with 4x2 15" guns. There are many other British ships with unsual configurations that have not been done before, so this class is not a priority for me.

I'm more interested in the wing turret battleship classes Neptune and Colossus (5x2 12") and battlecruiser classes Invincible and Indefatigable (4x2 12"). With the Indefatigable we can make HMAS Australia, our most powerful ship in WWI. Another interesting ship I would like to see is HMS Agincourt with 7x2 12" guns! The Lion, Queen Mary and Tiger battlecruiser  classes are also interesting with an unusual layout of 4x2 13.5".

If HMS Dreadnought is ever successful, the ship I would petition next is HMS Vanguard, the last battleship to be built. A possible wishlist, in order of preference

HMS Dreadnought (5x2 12") World's first all big-gun battleship
HMS Vanguard (4x2 15") Last battleship to be built.
HMS Lion (4x2 13.5") Famous Battlecruiser (the Splendid Cats)
HMS Colossus (5x2 12") Winged turret battleship
HMS Invincible (4x2 12") World's First Battlecruiser
HMS Agincourt (7x2 12") 14 Guns!
HMAS Australia (4x2 12") Indefatigable class battlecruiser
SMS Nassau (6x2 11") First German Dreadnought
SMS Kaiser (5x2 12") Similar to Colossus
SMS Koenig (5x2 12") Similar to Iron Duke
SMS Bayern (4x2 15") Similar to Warspite
USS Michigan (4x2 12") First US Dreadnought and Superfiring Turrets
IJN Kawachi (6x2 12") First Japanese Dreadnought (similar to Nassau)

And if they did release those on your wish list, I'd buy every single one, at least twice

I have made a few ships over the years, so Yes, count me in.
My preference would be for 1/350 scale , but, hey, any "Doughnut" would be good.

I voted also, at least I hit the button, I'm not sure what happened after that.

You should interpret my vote to mean I support Airfix doing Dreadnought and others of the period, although I'm not hard and fast on scale.

I have Combrig's 1/700 Dreadnought on the bench now, being brought up to its 1914 configuration.  I'm not a shipbuilder by preference but I do like to break up the stream of aircraft kits with other things.

I don't see my handle on your list Steve, but I'd be very happy to see a new Dreadnought in this scale.

...As long as we get parts for Bellerophon class ships as well!

The Vanguard would be very close to the bottom of my list as an afterthought in the battleship race. Below even the R-Class which I find surprisingly ugly.

Rehabilitate the battlecruisers first with a Lion, Queen Mary or Tiger, then the more odd products of Fisher's imagination like... say ..... Furious. Have I mentioned that before?

The trouble with the battlecruisers for me David is that they're all boring four-turrets-in-a-row types of ship.

By the end of WW1 ~35 dreadnoughts with wing turrets had been built versus ~55 without, despite which there has never been one single plastic kit of any wing-turreted ship in any scale!

I'm amazed there is no kit of Dreadnought, as it was one of the most significant advances in warship design in the early 20th century. Please add my vote to the list.

Ratch moved this post to the Scales thread, but I want a copy of this post here, as it has news relayed to HMS Dreadnought. Please keep all scale discussions in the Scale thread. Thanks.

A Ukraine model company Master Box Ltd has announced a new line of 1/700 WWI battleships, including HMS Dreadnought. This will be the first plastic model kit of this famous battleship. Up to this time, this company has only made 1/35 figures and vehicles. Their kits seem to be high quality, considering the awards they have won. Their line will be based on ships that fought in the Battle of Jutland, but HMS Dreadnought did not take part in that battle. The other ships announced in the line include all four of the German König class ships, SMS König, Grosser Kurfust, Markgraf, and Kronprinz Wilhelm.

Well, unless Airfix already have a 1/700 HMS Dreadnought in the pipeline, I think this scuttles any plan for Airfix to make a 1/700 HMS Dreadnought. At 1/700 the Dreadnought and König are only 229 and 251 mm long, respectively. To give you an idea of how small that is, the Airfix 1/600 HMS Ajax is 282 mm long!

I think we still can petition for a HMS Dreadnought at the more sensible 1/600 scale. This will give a length of 268 mm, still smaller than HMS Ajax, but 39 mm (1.5") longer than the 1/700 model. SMS König would come out at 292 mm at 1/600 which would be 10 mm longer than HMS Ajax.

"Yes please" to a 1/600 HMS DREADNOUGHT. Then maybe WARRIOR? Maritime technological heritage and all that....
