Following my review of the Armageddon/Mach2 LCT6 and subsequent interest, I've decided to record my build here
Box art
Sprues
including steel cable and chain
Figures
Carrying lots of flash
The instructions are not printed in numbered stages None of the parts are numbered and the plastic is very soapy
I began by cementing the deck to the hull using polystyrene cement. This was not totally successful and cyanoacrylate was required at certain points, with pressure to close the gaps
I had to replace the moulded ladder rungs with staples, bent and cut to fit
Compartment A, on the starboard side of the carft

If I could name this, I think she'd be the Filler Queen
Here are the 11 figures,
straight from the sprue
and de-flashed
I spent some time today at the Abington Park Museum, home of the Northamptonshire Regiment
I discovered that the 2nd Northants Yeomanry landed on Gold Beach on 18th June with Cromwells and a Firefly whereas the 1st Northants Yeomanry arrived at Arromanches on 12th June operating Shermans _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

A few of 2NY's Cromwells were fitted with a form of whacky anti-magnetic mine protection made from strips of rubber. Now that would be a change!

I'd guess that this would be the recon element landing before the main force.....Any idea what else they landed at the same times?
Slightly question.....Would the Firefly always be painted the same colour as the Cromwells in its platoon?
All the best |

Having spent that much on the LCT and £40 on the Shermans, might it be worth going the whole hog and getting some better figures to do it all justice.....Perhaps something from the Hecker & Goros might be suitable?
Just a thought, all the best |

I'm a bit confused
Everywhere I look it says the 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry was in the 33rd Armoured Brigade and that their service markings were 172 (for HQ), 173, 174 or 175 - white on red - before 15 August 1944, and 151 (for HQ), 153, 153 or 154 after that date and yet at the museum there's an illustration of a Sherman with the correct green/black diablo but 51 in white on red, a photo of a Buffalo (at the time of the Rhine crossing) with 51 in white on dark (presumably red)
Having said that, there are two nice Shermans with 175 - white on red squares _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

Lets have a Northamptonshire Yeomanry thread.
Independent tank brigades started of with their own sets of numbers for each brigade, but by the end of the war they changed over to the 50/51/52/53 sequence used by armoured brigades within divisions for the sake of simplicity.

Starting to look really good Ratch! From the rather unprepossessing flash & gap ridden kit in the early photos it's being transformed.

I take back what I said about Hecker & Goros figures being required Ratch.....You have done an amazing job bringing the kit's own figures to life!
I bet they tried your patience in the process though!

Cheers Andy
I find painting figures quite theraputic the addition of colour can make quite a transformation _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here
