The time has arrived for the start of ticket sales for The Airfix Tribute Forum Charity Fundraiser - Spring 2008.  Money raised will be going to the ATF chosen charities WWF, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Cancer Research UK and Médecins Sans Frontières.  So far we have raised over £335 for the charities since May 2007 and this will be the final fundraiser of this "season" and the last for these charities. I will be involved solely with the administration of the draw and for complete impartiality, I will not be taking part in the draw itself.  I will, however, be making a donation instead.

How the Competition will operate
The competition consists of a single question with a choice of three answers.  Send your answer(s), with payment, to me and if your answers are correct then your name will be entered into the draw. So, if you pay £10 and answer correctly each time, then you get 10 entries into the draw.  When the competition closes, all names and prizes will be drawn at random by somebody not entered in the competition. A prize ticket will be drawn first and a name will be drawn afterwards. In effect, it is a raffle but including a game of "skill" to fulfil legal requirements.

The Question

The full title of this site, the ATF, is:

A. The Airfix Tribute Forum

B. The Airfix Tribute Fan-site

C. The Airfix Tribute Fanzine

Paying for your Entries
If you wish to enter the competition, it costs £1 per entry(answer).  All members can purchase tickets by using PayPal.  Members can also pay via UK Postal Order or Cheque drawn on a UK bank and should email me for details.  Any members, in the UK or overseas, who wish to pay via cash, should email me for advice.

Please note that payments by PayPal can be made in two ways -

a. funded by credit or debit card

b. funded by existing PayPal balance

Option b is preferred as PayPal charges will not be incurred if paying by an existing balance.  PayPal charges at Option a are £0.24 for £1 spent and £0.28 for £2 spent.  So, if paying by option a, it would be nice if you could see your way to buying £2 worth of tickets so as to maximise the amount given to charity.

The web page for making payments is here.

Once you have made payment, you will receive a confirmation email or PM from me (for cash and cheques) or PayPal and your name will be entered into the draw as many times as I receive a correct answer from you.  An email will be sent out once a week to all entrants confirming receipt of payment as well. In order to reduce my administrative workload, you will not get individual confirmation emails from me if paying by PayPal unless you write asking for confirmation that your entry has been received. When making your payment, give your ATF username, your answer and how many times you are entering.  For example, if I was paying £10 for ten entries then I put:

DaveCov - Answer A (10 times).

Note you don't have to write the details 10 times - just put the number in brackets.

Prizes
So far there are 32 prizes pledged.  The full list of prizes is shown on this forum in the first post here.

Duration of Competition
The competition is going to run from 0000 (GMT) Sunday 9th March until midnight (BST) Sunday 4th May 2008.  The draw of winners and prizes will take place at 1200 (BST) Monday 5th May 2008.

Winners' Prizes
When the winners are announced, I will be asking those people who have pledged prizes to send them directly to the winners.

Should anyone not wish to take part in the competition but would still like to make a donation, then please contact me at the email address above.

I hope you can all support this worthy cause and that we can raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities.

Thank you very much

Dave

Well, I'm in. I've coughed up already. I doubt if I'll win the top prize this time (It's some one elses turn).

There are some good prizes there, but the jewel in the crown is the original artwork!

Anybody who has Airfix running in their veins will be going for that one!

Yep, that painting would sure be nice. But what to have? Would I be loyal and ask for an Airbus? Or would I have something I'd actually want?

Always did like the "Miss Jolly Roger" Gulf War Bucc...

Well, we have had a very good start having raised our first £100 of this fundraiser already.  This does not include postal entries that have been promised or donations.  This takes our total for the 2007/8 campaign passed £465 which surpasses the previous campaign total of £402.

Thanks to all those who have entered or donated sums so far.

A summary of the funds raised during 2007/8 can be seen here.

Glad to see we've broken the half tonne mark - more than 500 squids is a jolly good effort all round

The first week of the current charity fundraiser has just passed and we have raised £199 from entries and donations.  A very good start indeed.  It would be nice if we could maintain this level until the draw in seven weeks time.

A big thank you to all those who have entered or donated sums so far.

A summary of the funds raised during 2007/8 (now standing at £533.66) can be seen here.

Now that I am back from my little break, I think it time for a little reminder about the competition.  Of course, we still have five weeks left before the competition closes but better to be too early than too late to get your entries in.  There are lots of great prizes and should they not interest you then why not make a donation to the chosen charities instead?

We have now reached the halfway point in the run-up to the competition draw to be held in May.  So far we have raised £300.69 from competition entries and donations since the launch of the fundraiser four weeks ago.  It would be nice if we could raise an equal amount in the time remaining.

A big thank you to all of you who have contributed so far.

A summary of the funds raised during 2007/8 (now standing at £635.88) can be seen here.

Just a reminder to everybody that there are still seventeen days until the competition closes and the draw takes place.  Hopefully, things will pick up in the time left as we have only had two people enter in the past three weeks and seventeen in total.  Bit of a shame considering the huge number of prizes but at least the amount raised from entries and donations has now passed £340.

We now have one week until the ATF Charity Fundraiser draw takes place and your entries must be in by Midnight (BST) Sunday 4th May.  So, you have plenty of time to get your entries if paying by PayPal but not so long if sending a postal entry.  Late entries cannot be accepted.

Entries into the ATF Charity Fundraiser will not be accepted after Midnight (BST) Sunday 4th May.  So, there is very little time for you to get your entries in.  The number of people entering so far is rather small considering the large forum membership but at least there has been a very good response from those who have taken the time to enter.  A couple of you said you were sending postal entries and I have still to receive those. If I haven't already acknowledged receipt of your entry either by email or PM, then contact me ASAP.

I still hope that by the end of May 2008 we can double the 2006/07 amount raised (£402) but at the moment we are just over £100 shy. So, help us achieve that target by getting your entries in now. Remember that even if you don't want to enter the competition you can make a donation and you should contact me for details.

So come on everybody, let's make that final push!!  You may also win a great prize along the way.....!

We still have 24 hours left until entries close for the last ATF Charity Fundraiser of the 2007/8 campaign.  So, if you wish to enter then get your entries in NOW!

The amount raised so far during the 2007/8  campaign now stands at £763.48 with the current fundraiser contributing £371.24 so far.

We now have two and a half hours left until entries close for the last ATF Charity Fundraiser of the 2007/8 campaign.  So, if you wish to enter then get your entries PRONTO !!

The amount raised so far during the 2007/8 campaign now stands at £773.22 with the current fundraising competition contributing £380.98 so far.  In view of the rather low number of members participating so far(24), it is a very good total indeed.
