Thanks Hawk, I will be digging some Bofors guns from the depths of the stash. This will be an out of the box build for me....well I may add a few extra details

I have received a new Bofors kit, my others are too deeply entrenched in the stash So will be making this one as serving with 7th Armoured Division in North West Europe.
Still have not decided whether to make it in action or on tow, just under a week to decide
Cheers

As mentioned above, I will be making just a single Bofors/Morris kit, this will be a straight out of the box build as the last few Group Builds that I have taken part in have got quite involved and I now need to build something fairly swiftly.
So, here are the sprue shots
The kit was nicely packaged in the latest Hornby style, all parts were on the sprue and sealed in a plastic bag.
The decals are in register, although there is slight damage but not to anything important
The two standing figures seem to have lost a lot of detail and have quite large sink marks in them particularly the chap with the binoculars.
I may replace these with some from AB Figures.
Work started with the assembly of the front and rear axle sections as per instructions, this was fairly straight forward with just a little flash to clean up here and there.
These elements were then added to the chassis frame along with the exhaust pipe and a couple of what look like stowage boxes. This all gives quite a nicely detailed underside.
The final job for this evening was to assemle the bonnet section, this looks fine in the following photograph but there is quite a large gap to be filled between the rear of the bonnet and the windscreen bulkhead.
Hopefully get a little more done tomorrow
Cheers

I love the 1/76 Airfix Morris CDSW kit.....It has a particular feel of precision about it that has been sadly lacking in some of the Rapides models that I have built recently!
For what it's worth & all the best |

Certainly is a nice kit.
Here is some more progress, I have been working away on this through out the week but have not had time to upload the pictures.
One minor modification was to extend the steering column using a piece of plastic rod, the steering wheel just seemed too close to the windscreen otherwise.
Here the rod is glued in place, it was left to dry and then trimmed down
And with the steering wheel attached
Although this is a nice kit it is absolutely covered in ejector pin/release marks and some terrible sinking in some areas.
Here are the parts for the mud guards to illustrate the problem.
And the same parts cleaned up using an emery nail board
The parts fit very well,, here they are in place.
As mentioned earlier some filling was required around the bonnet-windscreen join. I also filled the slots under the rear wheel arches where the bulk head slots in.
The bulkheads are in place and painting has started, you will notice that I am going for a brown finish on this one, thought that it would make a change
The canopy over the drivers position went on without problems and the ammo stowage bins were added also without problem.
The fit is particularly good on this kit although I am not sure if those gaps should be under the rear ammo bins, will have to seek out some reference
The rest of the canopy has been added, again without any problem although a little filler was required mainly along the join between the two main canopy sections
While this filler dried I started work on the Bofors gun. This will be depicted firing with wheels attached as on the box art.
There is a terribly deep sink mark on one of the booms wich will need filling.
Finally here is the canopy with filler sanded down.
I had hoped to get much more done tonight but most of the evening has been spent uploading pictures that I took at Salute last Saturday and of course this little lot, hopefully get a bit more done tomorrow.
Cheers

Still thinking about that Ratch, may use the clearfix method as I did on the Ambulance some time ago although the windscreen area may be too large.

Great work Stu. With regards to window glazing I tried using clearfix on these size windows once, not very convincing reverted to using clear sheet.

Thanks for the warning Peter thought the area was perhaps a little too large, it may have to be clear plastic card, should have cut it to size before I put the roof on
Cheers

I'm surprised to see all those sink-marks, the CDSW that I hacked up for my CS8 was rather clean as I recall.
All the best |

Me too, although this is a new boxing so perhaps the mould has takena bit of a hammering lately. I could not remember my older kits being so bad, will have to dig them out and have a look.
Cheers

Sadly not, I have not had time to get the modelling gear out for some weeks now, hope to get back onto it soon.

I have dug this one out again and made a little more progress, basically putting the gun elements together, no real problems although there was a very large sink mark in the side of the gun itself, this was easily filled with a little dab of squadron white putty.
Next step is to clean up the wheels and get them painted (more wheels , see Sherman build)
Cheers

Hello Stuzzar!
Nice to see you are working on you AA build again.
My 88mm diorama stalled too.
I simply hit the wall and could not see any way to get going again.
Maybe your progress will give me inspiration to get started again.
With kind regards from Jesper. |

Thanks Jesper, these things happen particularly as there is so much going on here by way of group builds, it is sometimes hard to keep up with them
Looking forward to seeing further progress on your 88 diorama, still have one to finish off from another group build over on the old Airfix webiste. Here is the gun and crew still waiting for a target.
All the best
Cheers

Have done a little more, added the final bits to the gun tractor and gun and then gave both another coat of paint. The wheels were added to both and I made some extended jacks for the gun so that it could be depicted as firing with the wheels in place.
The front wings have been added
The petrol/water can racks have been added here
Here is the Bofors gun firing from the trail with wheels inplace
Here is the gun tractor with wheels in place, some retouching will be required around the tyres/wheel rims
This picture show both the gun and tractor as they stand at the moment, still some more detail painting to be done and of course the decals to be added.
Cheers
