Hello Group!
This is my first group build, but I think it will be fun.
My selected subject is the good old Blenheim.
My goal is to combine the good clean plastic in the old kit with
the better decals from the new one.
Good build to all of you.
From Jesper L. |

|
|
Hello again!
My progress so far:
The Blenheim is a nice model with a good fit. And I like the building of it so far.
The old blue plastic is really nice to work with. The new gray model on the other hand is far inferior.
The main parts is warped and the plastic is brittle and not good to work with. So I’m building my Blenheim entirely from the old parts.
At the moment I’m working at reducing all the rivets by nearly sanding them off.
I think the result will look far better and be more realistic.
The Cockpit:
After a quick cleanup of the crew I decided not to use them.
A bunch of war veterans with legs and lower body missing deserve to be excused for further duty.
The cockpit now looked a little empty so I made some ribbing with some masking tape
This is a dry run just to see how it fits
I will work a little more on the cockpit after final installation.
And now: Back to work!
With all the best from Jesper. |

Hello again.
I totally agree with you Michael.
You don’t get box art much better than this:
I now have assembled the major parts together after separating all moveable surfaces from
the wings and tail. I glued them on again in a slight angle just to make the appearance
a little more interesting.
I used a little “Mr. surfacer 500” to hide some not so perfect joints, but in all the fits was pretty good.
Now the initial painting with brown will be next before I go to bed.
Happy building from Jesper. |

I’m getting closer..
I’m more or less finished with the paintjob and the decals is done.
I have used matt Hombrol colors and a cote of marble polish all done by brush.
I found out my underside color demarcation line is wrong and need to be defined better.
So I will do so next.
I’m not to happy with the cockpit glazing.
After a dip in floor polish it have got at slight milky haze.
I think it will disappear in the next few days when it’s completely dry.
But until then I’m waiting to paint the cockpit frames in case I have to remove it and clean it down again.
Keep up the good work to you all!
Best regards from Jesper.

Hello again!
A quick build status:
The milky haze did not disappear
So I had to gently remove the cockpit ..
soak it in water until the coating got soft again ..
gently rub it off with a toothpick..
polish the cockpit to reestablish the shine..
coat it again with another type of clear coat..
wait for it to harden..
Wait to see if it's OK this time..
A lot of time lost just because I was to quick to coat and glue it on in the first place.
I think the age of my floor polish (about 10 years) is the reason to my problem.
So now I will try to see if I can find a new one.
I hope you all have a great time building.
I enjoy the experience regardless my little mishap.
The best to you all
Jesper. |

Hello again.
Just a little update.
(No pictures this time).
My Blenheim is getting closer to be finished.
Final weathering and details will be done in the upcoming week (I think).
At the moment I’m waiting for a dull clear coat to harden, to accept the pastel
I’ll be using to give the paint finish a little character.
See you later…
Jesper. |

This is the end!
No it’s not – just the last entry on my Blenheim IV build.
I have enjoyed the build all the way, and can recommend the kit for a fast and fun build.
IF you got one without warped parts.
The one I build was the old one from around 1970 with decals from the 1990 reissue.
I will not even attempt to build the reissue!
The fuselage parts fits so badly together I think one of the halves has shrunk during the cooling process.
It will take a great deal of force to widen the left part fore more than the 2-3mm the difference is.
BUT the old kit was a true joy to build. Not without its faults but with good fit and almost no flash.
Se the gallery for a few more pictures!
See you all later in another build.
It has been a joy to have seen all yours builds an a great inspiration to getting me going.
All the best from Jesper.
