Likewise at the moment Hawk and it is beginning to annoy me intensely, having already bought all that kit!

I have now started work on the first of my Bofors Guns, this one will be built with wheels raised for transport in the back of a Leyland Retriever GS Truck:

The gun carriage has been built from the best bits among my first kit and the spares sent to me by Spudgun:

The swinging arms of the gun carriage will be fitted with steel pins to keep them fixed in place, while still allowing them to be moved into the firing position once the gun is deployed on the game board!

At the moment the axle units still rotate as they should, but they will soon have to be glued or they will certainly break!

All the best

I must say your 88 and Tractor is looking realy nice!

And your work with the tracks is looking far better than I can dream to do with mine.

Nice work!
Jesper.

Cheers guys!  Cheers!

The SdKfz.7 & 88 will be painted in the same fashion as my Pz IV Ausf D.....Now that I know the technique actually works!

The Retriever is for Operation Sealion, so 'Mickey Mouse' camouflage is out, which is a bit of a shame as it does look quite cool.  I've decided to try an adaption of the filter technique on the various British vehicles too.....These will receive a good spraying with Hu30, yes that's right Hu30 for their basecoat!

I will then use various brownish filters to turn this revolting base colour into something more suitably Khaki.  I'm not after accuracy particularly, I want something that looks British and very well used indeed.....Whether this will actually work or whether I am pushing my luck remains to be seen!  Nailbiting

All the best

The Bofors guns are somewhat stalled for want of bits and pieces at the moment.....I haven't been able to find anything suitable for pinning the gun carriage arms yet:

I have started work on the first CDSW; I have glazed the windscreen with acetate and this subassembly is now ready for some paint....I need to find some Hu30 rattle cans for the base coat!

I accquired another Airfix SdKfz.7 & 88 recently and it may well find its way into this thread at some point in the future.

All the best

Cheers Stu!  Cheers!

I've decided aginst trying to make the axles moveable.....They are now well and truly glued!

I'm trying to get the crossarms on the gun that is dropped onto its carriage to be moveable.  What I need is a 1mm diameter pin about 5mm long with a 1.5mm flat head.....Any suggestions?

TIA & All the best

How about a pin Sarge, dressmaking that is. You can cut the pointy end off.

Pinned!
I have been reasonably successful in my 'movable parts' venture, the new pins were fashioned from brass panel pins in the end:

It all works, but it is rather delicate and I doubt it will survive too much handling.....C'est la vie!

I'm all rattle-canned up and the fumes are unbelievable.....I swear the current Humbrol acrylics are as 'heady' as their enamels ever were!

Pictures when it all stops spinning!

All the best

Small progress.....
I'm finally double-vision free and underway again, although I've had quite a manic day so very little has actually been done:

The green basecoat has shown up lots of horrible imperfections as usual!

I'm now painting various crew figures and I'm about to attack the SdKfz.7 & 88.....So hopefully at least one model will be ready in time!

All the best

So Near.....
I'm almost there with the SdKfz.7 & 88mm Flak:

The filters and drybrushing are finally all done.  The model now needs one or two bits of detail painting (Lights, dashboard etc. ) one or two more highlights, a coat of Klear, its decals (I will sort some out for Ade's model at the same time! ) and a couple or three pinwashes with oils.

Unfortunately I am way behind with my figure painting, so I will still have some work to do on this one yet before it is truly finished!

For what it's worth & all the best
Rotten pictures too.....I'll try again later, this model has my undivided attention today!

Do you do these before or after applying decals

Afterwards.....I'm just letting the last acrylics dry now.  I will give the model a coat of Klear, then apply the decals, followed by more Klear.  Once that is properly dry I will either proceed straight to the pin-washes, or perhaps I may add an acrylic dust wash first.

The advantage of using this painting sequence, is that if you have largish decals that overlie detail (Allied stars are the prime culprit! ), you can shade and weather them at the same time as the paintwork!

HTH & All the best
PS - My 88mm FLAK is rather reluctant to give up its detail with just acrylics and washes.  I really hope the pin-washes will do the trick!

Can't wait to see some figures finished you seem to have made alot more progress than I have though, probably due to the fact I have ploughed through 10 Shermans of all sorts in the last few weeks, not with the quality PE like yours though

All Klear.....
All the acrylics are done and dealt with, unless I decide to do the dust wash.  The decals are on and the whole model (Except the seatbacks by the look of it! ) has been coated with Klear.....As has my MMI Magazine collection!

I had a bit of a Kleary accident while finishing off and my computer had a very narrow escape indeed!  One small splash got onto the gun carriage and went unnoticed creating a strange pale spot in the base-colour.....Fortunately an oil-wash should be sufficient to hide that.

However I think that I'm going to leave the oils until tomorrow now.....One major accident a day is quite sufficient for me!

All the best
