Now I'd really like to know what the color is that looks like "copper" and seems to be on cowlings of some RAF bombers-- and what is it supposed to be? Did some planes have copper clad cowls....??

It's supposed to depict the colouring produced by the heating of the Radial engines' exhaust collector ring, which is at the front of the cowl. I use Hu55 Fire Bronze.

It's probably a little too bright, but I don't mix it thoroughly. A light wash of a dark steel over the top may be a way to go Think

Thanks. That's very interesting-- they built the exhaust collector into the cowling, eh? Fascinating to me because one of my particulars interests is the way that different designers would solve the same problem in different ways.

PE and superglue the usual PITA, but:

The lower pictures illustrate how much the aerials on the hull sides overlapped and the trimming that had to take place to rectify this.

All were given a coat of Hu53 to finish.
