Cheers lads.....I'm hoping the edge highlighting and washes will perk it up a bit.

All the best

Filters? Highlighting?- Washes??? Groan! What is this stuff- I'm a pre Darwinian dinosaur. Yet it does look a whole lot better than anything that I could paint.
Keep going sarge! I'm enjoying this.
How is Feanor's build going? Has he found his lost sanded off front locator pin? Or is he still a self-certified idiot? (quick nurse the screens the screens)

When do we get the trailer? Forget those sexy Shermans etc and see this through to the bitter end!
cheers Stuart-
ps I'm not going to give on this and nagg you to death until it's finished! I shall be awarding points (and they mean prizes) especially regarding how close the finished model is to the factory drawings I sent you!

Pressure? Grrrr.... I like this build so much it might turn me into a stalker if it doesn't progress- I might track down the sarge and kidnap him and the model and chain him up in a cellar until he finishes the thing! Erm- oops just realised I haven't got a cellar- that's that idea gone for a burton.  Cue picture of sarge looking very relieved!

The Airfix Scammell is one of the best models Airfix ever made and if you check it out well advanced and generally correctly detailed for its time.
I still don't get the washes, filters bit- what's wrong with a good dose of good old Humbrol paint from a brush? told you I'm a dinosaur! Yet I do have an airbrush and have been trying it out. Mostly just making a mess!
As usual just joshing sarge- the model is looking fantastic- keep up the good work.
cheers Stuart

Hi Stuart(s)!

I think accuracy has mostly fallen by the wayside on this one.....I'll be more than happy to get a tolerably attractive finish on this kit.  It's an awkward blighter to paint, there always seems to be a bit that you missed!

All the best
Sgt.S
PS - Anyone got any 1/76 British fuel cans that they can spare?  Mine appear to have been sucked into hyperspace.....Presumably by the singularity forming around my stash!

Hi sarge-
be careful that singularity around the stash doesn't turn into a black hole!
HA HA!
Yes just when you think its all okay there's that bit you missed especially with the airbrush.
cheers Stuart

My airbrush setup is back in the box again, to my considerable annoyance.....I'd only just started playing with it when reality intervened!

I'm using rattle cans and the 'hairy stick' on this one.....Again!

All the best

Is it me, or did the level of ambient weirdness just sky-rocket?

A Little Klearer.....

I've laid down a little more weathering, painted the various details and given the model a coat of Klear.....My attempts at shading are now a little more visible and some of it looks just a wee bit rough!

Next stage is some decals and then some pinwashes to make the bolt detail really stand out!

All the best

Cheers lads!

The decals are on, but I couldn't face working with oils at this time of night, so the pinwashes will have to wait until tomorrow.

I know the bridging plate is wrong, but those were the smallest numerals I could find, so I just used the loaded weight.  You would not believe how long took to get the two tiny '5' decals down.....It would have been easier to paint it!

All the best

I've had the oils out today, so the Scammell tractor has finally received its oil-washes.....I thought I was on the finishing stretch, give or take the odd trailer, but then I remembered that I hadn't fitted the stowage basket!

I'm going to have to paint it seperately now and see if I can blend it into the overall finish.....At least I've got some flimsys and other bits to put in it now!

All the best

That cage might have been renewed/repaired in the REME workshop, so it might be a different colour.

As for the rest I think it looks OK    ...... erm I mean very nice

Are you going to glaze the windows ? if so don't forget the sandblasted look.

Cheers Loll.....But that picture was pre-oils!

I 'm going to have to prepaint and weather the stowage before I put it into the basket.  Then I will have to fit the basket and weather that to match the rest of the model.  Once that is done I will flatcoat the model, weather with pastels and only then add the last of the glazing (the small side windows) with Clearfix......Should only take me another month or two!

All the best

The realistic response to that is :

Will you have her finished before we start the Fourth Anniversary GB Sarge?
