Primer on, now the first of four different colours .

Rigging this thing looks a lot more complicated than the Rapide, there's blinking wires everywhere!

I've put two coats of Hu19 on and given them 48 hours to harden. I'll mask off to do the next stage which is the blue on the hull.

Oh man that's bright!

Looking really good and rather a fun project.  My own recent experiments with Airfix biplanes have been none too rewarding, but I keep on buying them and I have hopes for future success.....My own Duck should arrive tomorrow, but I am going to save it for any future 'Aircraft in the Movies' GBs that might occur.

All the best

It has been a reasonably good build up till now, quick with no major dramas! I've masked off the red and applied the first coat of Hu104 to the hull. I used clingfilm to speed up the masking and save on Tamiya tape - I think I saw Paula and Dan use this on one of their builds. Certainly worked a treat up till now.

All the paint has been applied, the cling film worked very well. I've uncovered all the masking and sprayed with a layer of gloss cote to seal the metalcote in. The Hu104 hull is sucking the gloss up like a sponge.

I'll leave the gloss to set then do some of the touch ups needed, add another layer of gloss then decal. I love this scheme, really is eye popping! (Look Ma! No rivets )

That's an excellent job you've done Richard - I can't wait to see the finished article.

That rescue colour scheme is really attractive.

Decals are all on, thankfully they were OK, but I think the red is off-line. One stars and bars was flaking a bit around one edge, so that went under the wing. I've applied a layer of gloss over the top so once that has fully hardened I'll see about unmasking the canopy and doing the rigging.

Very striking indeed, it's a real shame about the out of register red on the decals.....Perhaps you could touch them up?

Just a thought, all the best

Quick game of spot the difference between the pictures in the last post and these!

In summary;
prop decalled coted and attached,
the tail hook is on,
the main wheels are on,
the anti-glare panel has been matt coted
canopy unmasked ready for framing
national marking offending red line covered over with white decal paper in prep for having new red painted decal paper applied-    Sarge.

Things to remember - unmask the fuselage windows and do the horizontal frame - I can see myself forgetting this!

I'm going to let all the gloss paint and gloss cote harden and cure for a bout a week before doing anything else as it is quite soft and a bit tacky still, probably due to the number of layers involved. Should still make it by the dealine though!

Finished up all the details, framing and rigging. In the end I double rigged, wasn't too bad after all. Anyway here she is;

Grumman OA-12 Duck, 10th Rescue Squadron, USAF, Elmendorf, Alaska, 1948.

Thanks once again to Eduard for donating this to the prize raffle - a very enjoyable and colourful build!

Stunning. I think this is one of your best ever builds considering all of the different paint colours that are hard to paint!

Speechless;

What technique did you use for the rigging?
