My build will depict the aircraft flown by Lt. John Burns, USN, from the USS North Carolina, Truk Atoll, Pacific Ocean, 30 April 1944. While on operations on this date, he and fellow crewmember Aubrey J. Gill rescued 10 aircrew from choppy seas, an action that saw Lt. Burns awarded the Navy Cross.
I intend to mount it on a seascape  Nailbiting

Sprue shot

What you get in the box

The tooling dates from 1967 and has appeared in the catalogue three times: 67 – 78, 1982 and 96 – 01. The detail and quality reflect the age of the mould, and the technology of the time. Cockpit interior and engine detail are very basic. The airframe has raised panel lines and the upper surfaces of the floats are festooned in rivets. The transparencies for the canopy sections are remarkably thin with raised framing. There is a slight register issue with the decals.
Instructions are printed on eight pages; my sheet was printed in 1996. Assembly is illustrated in thirteen stages with options to build as a floatplane, a floatplane on wheels (i.e. beached) or a land based aircraft. Finish options provided are:
1. OS2U-3 Kingfisher, USS North Carolina, Truk Atoll Pacific Ocean, April 1944
2. Kingfisher I, Royal Navy, East Indies Station, 1943-1944

Sorry for the delay needed to go to the big scrap yard box in the shed. Can supply a second hand prop if still required.

Cheers

I hope the instructions didn't suggest H78. H225 would be better, I think.

With my Iwata HP-C+ airbrush
I didn't mask the airframe, just the cockpits
