Once I've actually picked up my 'Jungle Outpost', I might stick my paw up.....But not before!

I will act as reserve, sitting nervously on the bench, but ready if needed
Do you think that we should extend the build time on this one as most dioramas will need a little more work than a single kit build
Cheers

I strongly recommend investing in a copy of "The Jungle is Neutral", by F Spencer Chapman, for a flavour of what jungle warfare was like, and how the types of buildings very accurately depicted by the Airfix kit were sited and furnished.
Eg a lot of them were deliberately set on slopes to aid drainage. Many had kitchen gardens planted around them...and so on.
No pictures, but the descriptions are spiffy. _________________ circumveniat quod circumiret

You really felt for the poor guy when Singapore fell - stuck in the jungle behind enemy lines until the allies won! Which was three years!
Googling for pictures using the search term "kampong" produces some useful reference pictures.
Another one of my windmill projects is a permanent wargames setup depicting a piece of Burma or Malaya in 1/32...triple-canopy jungle, hanging creepers, and of course the trees would have to be at least two feet high to really look the part:-

I would like to increase the length of this GB to three to four months.....This will allow sufficient time for scratch-building terain, converting figures and the like, especially for those of us who progress at the rate of a speeding glacier where figures are concerned!

I have recently acquired a Revell HAS second hand so would like this to be part of an RAFG Diorama with either a brace of Airfix Tornados or Buccaneers.
In addition Airfix Nato Groundcrew, the Airfix Scorpion Tank (base defense ) Airfix 1 Tonne Land Rover and Half Tonne Land Rover.
I think these additions would make it 75% Airfix and 25% Revell.
Incidently if anyone is thinking of building the Airfix Airfield Sets you can get the diorama accessories straight from the company who supplies Airfix.
This is Amera Plastic Mouldings and they make the bases, nissan huts, trenches etc. £14.99 for an Airfix Set. £ 3.25 for the Amera base and add your own Airfix plane and tanks.
Should keep me busy for a couple of months should this GB go ahead |

Any decisions or momentum on this? I have a hankering to make a diorama of some sort so was pleased to find this thread - my reading of it is that Sarge has volunteered to lead and Ratch was thinking of an autumn date. Which is sort of any time now... Time for a poll of some sort if the wise men think such a thing is required?

I'm still in for this one and I'm happy to lead the GB, unless anyone else would particularly like to do so.....In which case I'll equally happily step back in their favour!
