Hey all
Just on the verge of closing up my 1/72 Revell Eurofighter Typroon F2. I have now turned my attentions to the weapons load out. After a lot of research I found that RAF machines on QRA tend to have 4xASRAAM 4xAMRAAM and 2xfuel tanks. Not a problem I think the Revell kit even has the future Meteor missle and Stormshadow which I don't think has been cleared for Typhoon use yet. Alas no the kit only comes with two ASRAAMs despite having four of a missle that hasn't even got a typical loadout profile yet .
Also each Typhoon wing has 4 hardpoint Revell only provide 2 rails and 1 molded to the fuel tanks. Hardpoints 1 and 8 are provided and is a missle only rail and is semi permamently attached to the a/c (not sure if they are allowed to fly without them due to aerodynamics) and is provided so all good for the 2 ASRAAMs. However the next position provided for is 3 and 6, this is a 'wet' hard point and is molded onto the fuel tank and provided seperatly to carry the Storm shadow. Unfortunatly I need positions 2 and 7 which is directly infront of the flap actuators with the rails for missles.
I have searched online for these parts but to no avail . Does anyone know of a company that makes these parts
Thanks for any help. |

Hey all
Thought I'd give this a bit of a bump. Take it with the lack of replies there are no such kits on the market which confirms my research .
Anybody got any ideas on what to do about the missing pylons? |

Hey skipperjjt
May well give it a go got a fairley good side on shot of the pylon. I feel fitting it around the flap actuator is going to be fun .
Then I've got to find some ASRAAMs but I think I've an idea for them . |

Hey all
Just thought I'd add here my work around for the pylon problem. The kit comes with pylons for the 3 and 6 positions and i decided to adapt them. The pylons are too long and too deep, so I trimmed 4mm off the length at the back and 2mm off the height along the diagonal top side.
So that this
turned to this
Not much different looking I know but they now fit and I've managed to save most of the detail.
On the aircraft the front of the flap actuator needed to be cut off thus
Here is the pylon in place now all it requires is filling and sanding to clear it up
I'm now glad I couldnt find any aftermarket parts as this is the first time I've broken from the instructions and done my own building. |
