Does anyone know of a 1/72 kit/vacform/resin kit of this aircraft. It was a developement of 38 Tiger Moths in the 1950' UK.
Alternatively does anyone know of any drawings ? |

Funny you should ask that.
One of our Fs modellers on our forum is looking for drawings to produce a Flightsim model.

Thanks Jesper Now that was what I originally wanted to build, but all I came upon were Jackaroos.
That Pavla kit is simply a Tiger Moth fitted with a Chipmunk canopy.
The Jackaroo has a widened fuselage and three seats and a canopy with a hinged side door both sides, hinged at the front and latched at the back, with a fixed clear top. The fuselage is longer too and it has a "riser" back ie. the line of the canopy is blended to the fuselage, in one of two types either gently sloping to the tail or more steeply about 5 foot back from the cockpit. |

I'd like to buy a copy if he finds any. |

After I saw the price I would reconsider anyway: £17.50!
That's steep for a airplane kit that small.

| They can be bought cheaper, but as you say ouch what a price ! |

| Aeroclub do a canopy for the Canadian Tiger Moth too, it's to fit the Airfix kit. |

| There were plans in a 1970's or 80's issue of Scale Models .If I could find it does anyone need a scan ? |

Loll
I have been looking thro sime serious books but need the official designation for the aircraft as De-Hav do a lot of aircraft by numbers as well as names.
Been looking at D.H. 82 type but no jackaroo yet !! |

Putman's book, De Havilland Aircraft since 1909 has a paragraph and a photo of one (in my copy it's on page 309-311). The description given says nothing about increasing the length, it says the conversion involved cutting the fuselage length-wise and making it, the undercarriage track and the wing center sections wider, which increased the wingspan. It says that the aircraft could carry four passengers (I'm reading that as five people on board but the photo's caption says it's a four seater ) and 19 were made by Jackaroo Aircraft Ltd of Thruxton. One other was built by Rollason Aircraft and Engines Ltd which was aerodynamically cleaner where the widening took place.
lincolnlanc, it doesn't have a De-Havilland number as it was existing aircraft converted by a different company (Jackaroo Aircraft) |

| There are quite a few pics on Airliners.net. Some are called Thuxton Jackaroo. 38 in all only a few remaining, with a sole one in North America. |

Nice web link
Unfortunately although all 7 sheets came through, they are too small to read and go even more unreadable as they are expanded.
File size is from 28kb to 52kb, They would benefit from being 10 times bigger. |

| I'm fairly certain there also was an article in Wingspan in the late 80s or early 90s, possibly accompanied by some Als Granger drawings (I started buying WIngspan around Vol. 47 until ca. 105, when they were stopped being distributed in Germany - if that's any help in tracking additional material down). |
