These big figures were always great fun to play in the garden!

Ayup Bri...

Apart from the British and German Paratroops all the new box Artwork looks great, IMO.

The only other query I have is for the British Infantry, the last boxing. It looks to me as if they're fighting in the Jungle. Is that right?

But in the Main, very nice and refreshing.

Shame the price of these has gone up - you used to get 28 in a Series 3 box, which would be £7.99. Now you get 14 for £5.69, which is a 42% price rise.

You can still get them second-hand on the 'bay for about 10 to 15p each including postage.

The extra must be for the box!

wow these look great! ...top combo of old & new artwork, can‘t wait  Clapping

i'll have to dig out my brits and jerrys then and practice painting

(i'll keep the russians japs napolionics and the others safe though)

These are being produced in a harder plastic this time

That´s right,Ratch!

The material is called K-Resin. Should be better for painting.

@feanor:
The British Infantry box has the artwork of the Multipose Series, also done by Brian Knight. Looks like fighting in the german jungle..ehm......Wald (forest).

Ayup Norm...

Thanks mate. but it Does look 'Jungly' doesn't it
I associate German 'Forest fighting' with Americans and Band Of Brothers...

Jungle was my first thought too - the British in the Pacific Theatre?
Why not...
The new 1.32 readymade figure boxes look cool........
Ayup Norman...

It's because i don't know which style of Uniform they're wearing. once someone I.D.'s it for us we've got a good chance of guessing where they are...

Looks like pretty deciduous jungle to me!

AAMOI, which Airfix 1/32 British would look most like jungle infantry? Presumably, you could paint 8th Army figures in green rather than yellow to get the approximate effect?

Actually the Australian Infantry by Airfix is predestinated for the jungle warfare. You could swap hats for helmets to get an alternative outfit.

...but that was in 1980. The big packs may have continued for a time in the Palitoy era, but not for long. IIRC the Humbrol releases of the late 80s were also priced in Series 2.

It's nice to see Bernard Breslaw of "Carry On" movies fame leading the Commando attack..

just extend the shorts to about knee length with some milliput and do then green is what i've been recommended by re-enactors

i'm planning on doing jungle troops with the multipose figs though but there pretty much the same just different plastics and one bunch is pre-posed

Good to see that it is the WW2 British Infantry rather than the 'Modern' Infantry set (although they are nice figures too), I never had the WW2 British Infantry set so will be picking up some of them to add to the collection.

Cheers

I was also afraid of seeing the "Modern British Infantry" on the shelves. The picture in the recent catalogue was very misleading though. Now I am very happy to get the good old WWII British Infantry back again, which was only released in 1980/81 and consequently reached high prices on eBay when showed up.

Yay!!!

Norman

P.E.:OK,OK...CTS sold them too in the meantime, but without an Airfix box it is not the real thing, right?

Don't forget there was the other box of 1.32 poly British Infantry...........

I wonder if these will ever come out again?
The new 1.32 readymade figure boxes look cool........
The British Infantry will not, as the box art suggests, be fit for NWE. These Tommies carry SMLEs, and Thompson SMGs. Sword bayonet frogs are on the belts of the riflemen. They would need No. 4 rifles, Stens, "socket" bayonets, and one or two "tortoise" helmets to be fit for 44-45.
Still, these are beautifully animated figurines! Superb 2" motarman and grenade throwing poses. The officer looks most impressive.
If your ground-pounders are not fighting in Italy you'll want to swap heads with modern British, and borrow some weapons from the Infantry Support Group or the Commandos.

That was a great set with plenty of equipment.Last Airfix issue was in 1978. Reissues are available by CTS in green and tan colours. Perhaps Airfix will release them again in larger boxes than the standard 14 pieces sets. Fingers crossed...
