Hi all,
just to let you know, I will not be starting this project until the beginning of April. This is due to the fact that I am in my final stages of qualifying as an air traffic controller (after 2.5 years of study and training...!)so this is taking up all my time at present. Will get back to you all soon.

Hi all,
change of plan, my assessment has been put back a few weeks due to unforseen circumstances. Now I can get on with the modelling! Here are my materials:
I am using an old ID Models conversion, and since I never had the canopy, I am going to have to vacform one from scratch. That should be fun......
It will also have to be a T4N as opposed to a T8, as I have not been able to find any decals for a T8, but found some for a T4N in my stash. I know I am a cheapskate, but I am from Yorkshire so can't help it.
Keep up the modelling guys, they are all looking good so far! |

If you can find Canovac canopy #015 it's made specifically for the T4N _________________ If I'm not model building, I'm dirtbike riding |

Ok, work is progressing, have cut out the replacement parts and started to scratchbuild a very basic cockpit (with seats stolen from another kit). Just to show what is being replaced, I have taken a picture of the fuselage halves, one with bits removed and one as standard.
Am enjoying this so far! |

Right, I've finally managed to get on with a few things. The new nose and tail have been grafted on, requiring a large amount of filler to get the right shape. The parts themselves did not go together well, again needing more work than I expected. Still, it is starting to look like a t-bird which is the main thing.
Now to keep the momentum going! |

Ok, a bit more. Intakes, Wings and tailplane now added, now just to start adding the small details before chucking the EDSG at it.
Still an ugly beast, but I love it! |

Hey rafalbert, I may have got your hopes up to early for the canopy, it seems that Canovac was last seen about 20 years ago. At least that's what the latest info I got says. Sorry about that, I'm disappointed too because I was hoping to get a couple of them for the Heller Bobkits I have of the T.4 _________________ If I'm not model building, I'm dirtbike riding |

Hi Rafalbert
Did your conversion come with a full cockpit or will you have to fashion one yourself?

| Nope, the only parts were the vacformed nose, tail and rear fuselage, which are all pretty crude. I have created a very basic cockpit, with floor, stick, decal instruments and borrowed seats. I have cheated on the canopy, as my missus bought me the Heritage Aviation T2/4, which comes with 2 canopies. It is not a great fit, but I will have to adapt it. It has all been a challenge so far, but that is the hobby for you! |

Good luck with that cockpit, I found it quite a challenge to get the seats to sit at the right height in the tub. In the end I filled the whole nose with blutack and floated two card floors on it with the seats attached. Trial and error eventually gave me something I was happy with and then I fashioned the rest of the cockpit panels around it. The rear internal glazing ended up being the chopped down windshield from the GR.3. It doesn't bear too close an inspection but it's near enough for me.
Looking forward to seeing your progress. _________________ Modelling - Buy twenty, research ten, build one (eventually).
