Pics as promised. Will leave this to dry overnight then apply the black anti glare panel and touch up the areas where I spilled a bit of silver .

Anti glare panel and fin painted Hu33 (Matt Black).
Once this has dried overnight I'll touch up the paint job and then my favourite part of the build; the decals.

Decals are on. The black stencils on the wings were an absolute nightmare but I managed to get them down in the end and looking half decent (especially when you apply the 6ft rule!!).
Nearly finished now, just needs varnishing then adding of the fiddly bits.
I'll post pics when the model is fully complete which will probably be Monday or Tuesday. _________________ 60% of the time it works every time.

Disaster has struck again while using decal fix.
After applying the decals you could still see some of the decal sheet, so I applied some decal fix to dissolve this. Once again this reacted with the Klear and left a milky residue over most of the decals. I waited to see if this would evaporate but it didn't, so I tried washing it off with water and some kitchen towel. This didn't work either so I used some IPA (which I've used before) then this happened:
The paint work is ruined and needs to be completely re-done.
In conclusion I have now learnt my lesson. Said bottle of decal fix is in the bin and the Micro Set/Sol system that I was waiting to use when the decal fix had ran out is now going to be used instead. _________________ 60% of the time it works every time.

This reminds me of the F-100 I did. I must have twenty coats of Klear (Future) on that thing. I had to scrub the paint off of one wing and start from scratch.
It came out okay, though, I think. _________________ “Build what YOU want, the way YOU want to, and above all, have fun.”

| I've started to paint my models in xtracrylic or xtracolor which dry to a gloss finish oblivating the need for klear for the decals. Decal fix works with this no problem. I use the Humbrol varnishes out of the jar to finish off the model to the required gloss/matt or satin coat. |

Ouch! Have you tried painting over with gloss cote, sometimes this will dissolve the matting agent. Might be worth a try over a small area in case it works.

No I haven't tried painting over with gloss cote, I've already redone the grey and done a coat of the green. Thanks for the advice though and if it should happen again I'll try this.
I only had a little bit of decalfix left any way because I knocked the bottle over a few months back so I'm not too bothered about throwing away the last dregs of the decalfix.
At the moment I almost exclusively use Humbrol enamels but I'm seriously considering replacing them with Xtracolour enamels, I've already ordered some for my Meteors. _________________ 60% of the time it works every time.

Here she is finally finished:
The finish isn't as good as I would have liked due to the decalling incident, but it's turned out half decent, especially when view from a distance!!
Overall a straight forward build for the age of the kit and I think it builds up to a fairly accurate representation of a Lightning F.3. _________________ 60% of the time it works every time.
