Nearly twelve months now that I've had a computer and access to the internet and didn't know about this site until stumbling onto it through a link on Britmodeller. Glad to find it too!
For a time I was posting as 'Tango India Mike' (it seemed fashionable to have some sort of nickname) on UAFM - and would be still if not for some mysterious connectivity problem that came out of nowhere and refuses to give up. Anyway, here I am on ATF now . . . so I'd best get cracking on the photobucket to see what Airfix goodies I can pluck out of its depths!
See you over in the gallery! |

Hello Tim and to the Airfix Tribute Forum
A moment invested here will ensure you don't go treading on toes or putting foot-in-mouth
Please take a moment to peruse the site Rules these are to help maintain our relaxed and friendly atmosphere on the site
The search facility is quite useful. If you have a question about something specific, try the search first Just remember, if you enter Hurricane a lot more threads will appear than if you search for 14002 (for example)
Most of all, enjoy your time here. Don't be shy, show us your work, tell us what you're doing and don't be afraid to ask questions - the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask _________________ and was Jerusalem, builded here

Hi Tim
Welcome to the ATF.
Your models are stunning, your photography more so.
Please show how it is done, how about a Demo Photo Shoot?

Sorry gents, I keep forgetting to come back to this thread. Thanks for all the messages of welcome. I've been having a great time looking at old models that I never expected to see again.
You've probably gathered that I get my kicks out of wringing the best out of old kits like Airfix and Frog, and some of the early efforts by a range of limited run producers - some of which are decidedly unpromising in their vague approximations of what they're supposed to represent.
Well, I wish I could say that I'm presently beavering away at the workbench, but truthfully, I haven't been near it in three years since I launched myself into a new acting career in and around Perth's community theatre scene. In addition to the acting, I've also been kept pretty busy painting scenery and stage sets, which is what I used to do for a living in professional theatre, film and television. I should have kept my big mouth shut!
So anyway, my life is, once again, lived at a hectic pace with ever-changing schedules and as much us I might whinge about it, I'm really revelling in it. It's fabulous!
But, of course, this is all to the detriment of my modelling output and I'm planning to take a bit of a break from the theatre in a couple of months time so I can knock off a few (quite a few) unfinished projects.
It also is, unfortunately, detrimental to my keeping up with things on modelling forums such as this one, so if I don't get back to a question or respond to a comment, it isn't that I'm being rude. I'm actually very new to computers and not particularly confident with them (I've learned not to trust them!), and I find it all too easy to lose track of things and never be able to find them again. I hope I'm not the only silly old troglodyte to have this problem!
When I do get that planned break, I'll be getting some new photography sessions underway and will take plenty of pictures of the set-up, so that I don't have to keep trying to explain it in words. It WILL happen because I've promised many others that it will. That and the fact that I'd like to see other modellers having a go at the kind of photography that I do. It would give me great pleasure to see someone else pick up on the ideas and possibilities and eventually produce images far superior to anything I can do. There's ALWAYS someone out there who can do it better . . . at least I hope so!
If I can share anything, I'm more than happy to do so and I'll do my best to find the right words or pictures. But you may just have to be a bit patient with me!
Sorry for waffling on . . . I'll get out of your way now!
Cheers,
Tim. |
