AFAIK yes, it's a standard rear light set for US stuff - restored tanks are usually required to show two brake lights to comply with modern traffic regs which is where confusion has crept in.

Cheers David.....TBH I didn't even think to check on the lights and I should really have known better.

Got slightly confused, the top part of the RHS light is actually used to indicate to the following vehicle when it is at the right distance at night (same as the rear light of the Notek system). The pic in this thread in an M3, but the same lights were fitted to M4s

According to that thread, then, the LHS rear light was only red on the top third (or so), and Olive Drab elsewhere. Interesting. |

I got a bit confused too.....Having accquired a MB/Revell 1/76 Priest, I've discovered that the inner portion of its bogies are attached to the hull sides.
This pretty much scuppers my plan to use them on the Airfix Sherman.....It appears it was the Airfix M3 bogies I was thinking of. This is doubly irritating because the Priest kit does have quite a few parts that would be useful in improving the Airfix kit, most notably the three piece transmission housing.
I think I'll let this one lie fallow for a while now, but I'll definitely be back at some point.....I won't be able to leave it until I have at least a partial platoon of 1/76 Shermans now!

How much do you like sanding?
It's possible to treat plastic kits like vac forms and sand away the backing plastic to release parts like the backs of the bogies. I do it get things like turret rings to make sure that resin turrets don't suddenly drop off and plummet to the floor.

Not as much as I like the MB/Revell Priest to be honest.....It's quite a nice kit and seeing as I have already started a 1/76 collection!

Have you tried fitting the upper hull of the Airfix Sherman on the M7 chassis, as a matter of interest?

I had a look and it might be possible, but it would require some serious Priest destroying chops.....The side hull parts are quite substantial and include part of the suiperstructure too. I think my early M4 will have to wait until I can get an Airfix M3 and have a pop at copying the bogey units.

Cheers Herve.....It's just a bit of a shame that most of my enhancements are wrong!
I'm accumulating bits for another one (or four) of these and I may well make some corrections when the platoon takes shape.....But I'm full occupied with slightly bigger Shermans right at the moment.
All the best
