the stern was temporarily held with tape as the starboard half was out also on the longitudinal axis.  only 5-10 degrees after the bows were glued- it seemed more before.

The stern wasn't as bad as the sharp end as we nautical types call it, but still not a good fit

As i went along i glued pices of scrap styrene sheet across to help hold the halves together.

time for a bit of an update- i thought i had some other photos which if i can find them will edit in.

Hope this is not quite as amusing Loll

Note the diamond shape of the "holes" in the bow- as well as the flash

Have reshaped having seen some photos to a rectangle

However the nautical nightmares are not quite over, note the bow in the bow

I borrowed Ratch's idea and glued in pieces of sprues as cross braces- (pics missing)

Notice the plinths for the AA 3" guns on the port side

are noticable by their absence a starboard!

But have blanked off the weather decks and just about got the deck down- though there are a few awkward gaps to fill.

and at last she is beginning to look like a carrier.

hello paul,i follow your work with great interest, your start work look very good. There is a lot of amelioration work to do on the hull to have a correct result.I have started to regroup a lot of info about the Ark.There s a lot of job on this old kit and the WEM set is very helpfull for it...I think started mine Ark just after the 4 destroyers building (Eskimo,Z28,montgomerry and Hotspur).Good luck for your building, amitiés Rémy

Oh dear Remy,

it can't be that good if she looks like the ARK! :

but the compliments are very welcome - as from Colin and Jack!

have had a fair drop in confidence at times with this build as it doesn't have any wings and i am "out of my comfort zone!"

thank you for the encouraging messages

Had the chance to show my father the hull yesterday.  He was on Victorious just before the refit, when she was a training ship.  He showed me where, during a storm with waves coming over the bow, everyone went in and locked down the hatch, leaving him outside to cling on tight - quite scary i would think for a young chap

apparently she used to twist a bit, so if my hull isn't quite straighton the longitudinal axis - that is delberate to capture the authenticity of the real ship (Ahem! )

Amazing walrus!

Now it looks like the parts fitted together in the first place.
You have done a really great job aligning the hull and straighten and deck.

I’m looking forward to see more!

With kind regards from Jesper.

Have been unable to get much done recently, though there are a few pics to upload.

I have taken a corporate decision.  I will probably only get to build this kit once, and because it is an important project for me i want to get things as right as possible.  This means there is no chance of getting finished before the deadline.  I have decided i didn't want to compromise the build - but it is a real pity as far as the GB is concerned.

I have been hesitant about the island - and having scaled down some plans-I didn't climb down them by the way as if i were Tom Thumb or something- the superstructure is super out of kilter.

I won't be able to simply accept the faults, so a major refit is perhaps appropriately on the cards.

will update with photos asap

Hi Paul

The finish date for a GB is only a target. Your build will be followed with interest for as long as you want to post updates. You have done a wonderful job so far, I for one look forward to seeing the finished model.

Keep on keeping on!

Best

Colin

hopefully the pictures say it all

as i said above, if the project wasn't so important- i would let the inaccuraccies go, but now i know they are there...

so i think i will have to start from scratch
