Devastator with canopy over pilot

Without canopy over pilot.

Not decided yet to go with or without.

I have started applying the Techmod decals but some of them have died and I am awaiting replacements. You may spot what I have done so far as the Devastator appears in some of my Vulcan pictures in the Cold War GB.

Sorry to hear about your decals,  I had no problem with mine.

I am in similar situation with the canopy, I got some vac-formed ones as the airfix canopy sits much too high and beside I messed it up trying to sand it down.
By the way I'm very impressed with the Starfighter decals and they only took 3 days to arrive from the USA, if the techmod ones fail again.

I was informed today from Aeroclub that my Techmod replacement decals are still in the Czech Republic and not with them.
I will post my partially decaled Devastator later on.

Its as finished as it ever will be.
Some of the techmod decals failed on me and the replacements from Aeroclub are still out there somewhere. Tried to use some kit decals but they would not shift off the backing paper.

Devastator TBD-1 Black 71-S-16 Lt B.V.Clark VS-71 USS Wasp Atlantic June 1941.

Humbrol acrylics and varnish. Cockpit glazing masked by Maskol and stuck down with clearfix.
Decals forced to stay put by decalfix.

After viewing these pictures i noticed that I'd forgotten to put the prop colour bands on the back of the props and one of them seems to fallen onto the bomb. I'll put them on tonight.

Considering the difficulties you've had with this, you've done a fine job

A great result under challenging circumstances. Shame about the Techmod decals as they look so nice on the sheet.
